6/03/26 14:15 #6002119 I had a frustrating experience during a recent refund process. I was first asked to use my physical card, which I did, but it didn’t work. I was then told it was the wrong card and only afterward informed that Apple Pay was required, which should have been explained at the start. The communication felt unclear and unprofessional, and the staff member came across as dismissive, with limited eye contact and minimal effort to explain the situation properly. When I was asked to sign the return receipt, the items were still on the counter in a way that made it inconvenient. I asked for the area to be cleared before signing, as this is basic customer service. The staff replied with closed lip sound dismissive mm-hmm. Overall, the interaction felt poorly handled and unwelcoming.

This is the worst customer service I’ve experienced. The staff are completely unhelpful and don’t even know where their own products are. It took me about 50 minutes just to buy a door. The employee kept walking up and down the same aisle, checking the same doors over and over again — at least five times — and still couldn’t find the right size. Only after that did he realize the door wasn’t even there and went to look somewhere else. When he finally found it in another location, he couldn’t even get it himself and needed help from other staff just to bring it down. On top of that, I had to go to the main checkout twice just to ask them to call someone for help, because there were no associates available on the floor. Technically they’re there, but in reality, there’s no help when you actually need it. This is ridiculous. I came in with the item number — the process should have been simple: locate the door, put it on a cart, and go. Instead, it turned into a 50 minute ordeal. I’ve never seen such incompetence. It’s impossible to compare this to Home Depot, where employees are professional and actually know what they’re doing.

Extremely terrible customer experience. Purchased a construction heater and paid by tapping my phone on the machine (Apple pay). An hour later, I returned the item coz I noticed the plug won’t work for my walls. Upon getting there, I tried using my physical credit card of the same card on my Apple pay to get the refund, but it didn’t go through coz Rona’s system identified a different card (even though it was the same card); they said I needed to use the same Apple pay to receive back the money. I didn’t have a problem with it, I brought out my phone to get the refund, and alas, my phone was dead. The guy at the customer service desk called the store manager over the phone (I could hear the conversation) to help approve an override or find a solution (i.e. by helping me with a charger, or so I thought). The store manager practically told him to inform me to go and come back another day when my phone is charged. No empathy, no iota of customer service gene in almost all the staff members, starting from the top, and which by default cascades down to the bottom level staff. When he informed me of what the manager said (I also heard him myself anyways), I asked him if he had a phone charger he could help me with since the store manager was adamant to help, he said no. I asked if they sold chargers, he said I should go to Aisle 10. He then said there won’t be any plug in the store to charge the phone with. I looked at him, surprised (no single plug in this store to help me bring up my phone!!!). I went to the aisle, picked up the charger, purchased it (after he refused a second time to help plug it) and ran to my car to get it charged. I Got the phone charged and returned 5 mins later to get my refund. A key note to the management here, successful businesses thrive on excellent customer experience and this has to cascade right from the top to the bottom level staff. If this is missing, you start losing revenue which eventually eats into your bottomline (profitability). This is the main reason successful organizations invest heavily in training all staff (managers and employees) in ensuring that every customer who walks in through the door leaves very happy and satisfied.
