  Subject: Cash Refusal, Harassment, and Rights Violation at 322 Rideau Street on 21th,May . I am writing to formally address a deeply concerning and hostile experience at the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 322 Rideau Street in Ottawa. During my payment, an employee in perfume cashier refused to accept my $100 cash payment. When I questioned this, the situation escalated into unacceptable customer treatment, revealing a complete lack of professionalism: Micro-Level (Employee and Personal Impact): The employee never realizes the inconvenience they caused to the customers. A woman claiming to be security threatened me and called the police simply because I spoke up about the poor service. Furthermore, this woman took my photo without my consent, which is a direct violation of my privacy and human rights. The way they treated the customer operates like a "dark store" Meso-Level (Store and Operational Transparency): There is no visible signage reminding customers that cash or $100 bills are unacceptable. While automated machine payments might be safe and convenient for the store, we must ask: is it actually safe for us, the people? For many individuals, paying with cash provides a critical layer of financial security, privacy, and personal safety that machines cannot offer. Forcing digital transactions completely alienates cash-reliant patrons and creates an unsafe, hostile shopping environment. Macro-Level (Company Culture and Image): While it may not be legally required for a business to accept cash, the aggressive, defensive, and unprofessional way this store treats its customers severely damages the Shoppers Drug Mart reputation and image. Employing individuals with zero job professionalism in a prominent downtown location signals a toxic and predatory corporate culture. I urge immediate corporate intervention regarding the staff and security practices at the 322 Rideau location. Actions must be taken to ensure employees respect basic human rights, undergo proper job training, and understand the core values of customer service.

  Horrible experience with this shoppers drug mart. They were out of stock of a medication I absolutely needed for a severe allergic reaction and gave me only a weeks worth supply, and hadn’t ordered it right away until my husband went back several times to insist it was urgent. They don’t notify you in advance if there are delays on order or if out of stock. They overcharge when they don’t even give you the full amount of tablets. The most unprofessional and unorganized team of pharmacists I’ve seen.

  Love the pharmacy hours 8am-10pm. As a methadone patient it's difficult to find pharmacies that dispense methadone who have extended hours. Staff are friendly, helpful & informative. Waits can be abit long when wanting scripts filled while you wait for all other medications.
