About

Nibav Home Lifts specializes in pneumatic (air-driven) residential elevators designed for modern Canadian homes. Located in Toronto with a Vancouver office, they offer compact, shaftless elevator solutions to improve accessibility and multi-floor living for homeowners.

Senior Care Path Summary

Nibav Home Lifts manufactures air-driven residential elevators specifically suited to aging in place and improved home accessibility. Their shaftless designs require minimal civil work and install in 2-3 days, with no pit or machine room needed, making them practical for seniors who want to maintain independence across multiple floors.

All Nibav elevators are certified under European safety standards and meet the Machinery Directive, with TÜV SÜD ISO QMS certification. The company emphasizes safety features including smooth start-stop operation, easy-to-use controls, and safety brakes, explicitly noting their systems are suitable for seniors and families. Customer testimonials confirm seniors and their families value the accessibility and modern design.

Nibav offers free on-site home assessments to evaluate suitability and accessibility needs. Their Series III and IV models feature durable polycarbonate cabins (250 times stronger than glass), panoramic 360-degree views, and lightweight galvanized-steel construction. Installation is handled by trained technicians, and the company provides customer support and ongoing service guidance.

The product is energy-efficient, using power only during ascent and relying on gravity for descent. With multiple colour and finish options and a focus on aesthetic integration, Nibav elevators serve older adults wanting to age safely at home without visible institutional features.

The product itself seems promising, but the customer service is extremely difficult to deal with. In short: if you need a functioning elevator within a reasonable time frame, I would not recommend this company. I never leave poor reviews but this has truly exceeded all my expectations. We had a partial installation of the elevator in April, but the handover was not completed. Despite trying to contact Nibav multiple times, we couldn’t get anyone to finalize the handover. Our customer representative, Ashley, tried to help but was unable to schedule the completion. She repeatedly promised to get back to us but never did. On July 2024, heavy rainfall led to flooding in our basement, which damaged the still-unfinished elevator. Our insurance company requested a quote and a report from Nibav in order to begin our repairs. Nibav is unable to provide any letter as they require the head technician to first complete a review. On Aug 28 Kumar the head technician is flying from India back to Canada along with their COO and they are able to come by to review the damaged elevator. He tells me that the process requires his report to go through all the legal and financial departments since this is the first time it has happened to them. Fast forward to September 16, 2024—our new customer rep, Suraj, finally informs us that the report is ready, but they will only provide it after the handover is completed. The delay, according to him, was due to a holdback fee from our developer. I offered to pay the remaining balance myself if they could schedule a handover appointment. Suraj said he could likely arrange it for the next day or Saturday and promised to confirm within 20 minutes. I made it clear to Suraj that I needed a confirmed time due to my work meetings next day and that I was willing to make adjustments to my schedule and pay the outstanding balance. However, Suraj didn’t call back and only informed me the next morning—20 minutes before my first meeting—that the technicians would not be coming. In conclusion, the staff seem either overwhelmed or indifferent to customer needs. I cannot recommend this company, especially if you’re hoping for a timely solution. Thankfully the elevator does look great in your home and even better if it ever becomes functional. Update Jan 2025 - Updated the review to 3 star as after several repairs the elevator is now functional. We are awaiting final cleaning and installation of the floor panels around the elevator. Update April 2025 - Updated the review to 1 star. Unfortunately, Nibav has once again shown that their customer service is extremely difficult to deal with. While the elevator itself has been functioning well since the repairs in January, we had scheduled a follow-up visit in February to complete the installation of the floor panels around the elevator and finish cleaning. However, when the technicians arrived, they informed us that they had not been told about the floor panel installation. As a result, they came unprepared without the necessary tools and were only able to complete the cleaning. After the cleaning was done, we noticed multiple scratches on several panes of plexiglass. The technicians acknowledged the issue and assured us they would return to buff out the scratches and install the floor panels on their next visit. Since then, I have made multiple attempts to schedule this follow-up. I reached out to our customer service representative, Suraj, on March 19th, 21st, and 24th. On the 24th, he finally responded, saying he would call me back shortly—but I never received a call. I followed up again on March 27th, April 3rd, and now April 4th, and still have not received any response. I also texted our local rep, Ashley, but have not heard back from her either. I want to be very clear: the elevator product itself is excellent. But the ongoing issues with customer service and poor communication from the installation team have been beyond frustrating. I've had no choice but to lower my rating to 1 star, as that seems to be the only way to get their attention.
