I have immense concern as they are now allowing workers positive with covid work with the residents, many of whom are very medically vulnerable. I truly hope this can be revised in order to keep the residents safe.

As parent to a child with disabilities and medical vulnerabilities the decision of this company to allow COVID+ employees to work in peoples' homes - wearing no more than a medical mask - is appalling. It is ableist and it borders on eugenics. Many of the clients to this company are medically vulnerable and have the right to be protected in their own homes from an acute virus that can be deadly and that can have long term consequences that negatively impact quality of life. There is no statement in the memo allowing COVID+ staff that requires a worker to seek client permission for this egregious policy to be followed. How is this respecting the autonomy and rights of clients? Also, it is possible that a client may not have the capacity to understand the implications of this policy and so there needs to be a high level of ethical guidance - which appears to be egregiously lacking. It is also alarming that in the memo sent to staff, RRSS refers to COVID 19 being "endemic" - this is simply not the case. It is very much a pandemic and new variants and reduced vaccine protection demand more, not less, protective safety measures of the vulnerable. Whoever developed this callous, cruel and ableist policy should lose their job and this organization clearly needs some lessons in advocacy for the well being and rights of their clients. It terrifies me that this sort of organization is one that my little girl may one day need. This is appalling. I hope this policy triggers human rights complaints - as it should.
