  2024 February I approached Macush Law during a difficult time while on income assistance, seeking professional help with an inheritance matter. Initially, I felt heard and understood — they agreed to assist me, and I was confident they recognized the financial challenges I was facing. However, despite my limited income and a clear explanation of my circumstances, Macush Law maintained a very strict bi-weekly billing cycle. This left me in a difficult and unsustainable position. Ultimately, I had to find another lawyer who has a higher fee but ensures a more flexible payment strategy. The reason for this review stems from three factors, one of which 1. "Purpose Washing" (promoting her practice in a social or moral purpose to look responsible, but where her actions contradict that imageis concerned). 2. Lack of Diligence and Accountability Naz instructed me to use Dropbox to deliver Will & Estate documents to opposing counsel. A year later, they claimed—on record—they never received ANY. The method she advised offered no proof of delivery, leaving me without evidence. When I later asked her to confirm diligence, she admitted no record or follow-up had ever been made. This lack of verification and communication caused serious harm to my case. 3. Ineffective Negotiation and Representation I asked Naz to handle negotiations over the sale of the estate home. She said the opposing party’s terms were unfair and planned to negotiate, but when they stopped responding, she offered no alternative approach. I was left to take direction from the opposition or concede to their demands—something I could have done without a lawyer. This showed a lack of strategy and effective advocacy. Based on my experience, I would not recommend assigning complicated or time-sensitive matters to this firm. In my case, the handling of my estate matter suggested a more generalist approach. While I appreciate their willingness to assist clients with limited financial resources, my experience showed they may not provide the level of diligence or responsiveness needed for complex or urgent legal issues. While I appreciate that I was given a 17% discount on fees, I don’t believe the amount I paid reflected the level of professionalism and diligence expected of a licensed practicing lawyer, even at a reduced rate. This is not intended as a personal attack but as a transparent account of the service I received. My representative and their team were very kind, friendly, and made me feel comfortable throughout our interactions. If this review were based solely on their professionalism and demeanor—without considering the results—I would rate them a 4 out of 5 (reduced by one point due to the general 8–14 day wait time for email or call responses to questions).
