Well, I got my Dad's genetics and with that I inherited a great beard, height, but also allergies and unfortunately, hearing loss. I saw it coming though. My Grandpa had hearing aids, my Dad, and now me. My tinnitus was getting worse and one week, after recovering from a bad flu and ear infection, I noticed a dip in my hearing. My doctor referred me to The Ear Clinic southside location. They were great. I got called within a few days. Victoria and Chelsea were great to chat with over the phone. I met Dr. Jesse Grewal for my assessment. He's so calming and articulate. He explained the process, from the hearing tests, to my results, and broke down the news I was nervous about in a calm way. Dr. Grewal also helped me overcome my self-consciousness about wearing hearing aids in my early 40's. After the first meeting I felt better a lot knowing these are the cards life dealt me and how I had to move forward with this. The long-term damage it would have caused my nerves, brain, etc., was enough to tell me I needed hearing aids. The Ear Clinic told me to go check hearing aid prices everywhere. I did, but I still went back to get the Phonak brand from Dr. Grewal because he was so thorough compared to some other clinics. My custom ear buds weren't made right by the manufacturer and The Ear Clinic took care of the issues for me. This was an unfortunate genetic card I was dealt, but life became so much better with the Ear Clinic's help. I can hear everything now. Almost too much. I turn the volume down before using public washrooms. Something you just don't need to hear lol. Despite his poor taste in soccer teams (lol) I recommend Dr. Grewal and The Ear Clinic to anyone with roaring tinnitus or concerning ear issues.

2026.1.26 Google Review the Ear Clinic JS Lin This review is a bit lengthy as I hope that it will be very helpful to our fellow Edmontonians who won’t go through a long period of muffed sensation like me. The whole story begins when we had returned from an extended Christmas trip to California in 2024 while after the airplane landing at Edmonton International Airport, I suddenly found my left ear lost its normal hearing. The muffled sensation lasted more than a few weeks without improvement. Since effective solutions of this problem, ranging from earwax cleaning to advanced hearing devices. So, I decided to have my earwax removed by a physician. That done, still to no avail. Then, I went to the Ear Clinic. Dr. Grewal gave me tests which were done with efficiency and followed by great explanations. After that, I was advised to see Dr. Christopher Koo, a dedicated and highly skilled family physician for further treatments and for sending a recommendation to the Ear Clinic. Dr. Koo pointed out that he discovered fluids in the middle of my left ear. Dr. Grewal suggested that I should see Dr. Allen Ho, the Director of the Edmonton Ear Clinic and a famed Otologist. Ms. Victoria Nguyen, Audiology Patient Care Coordinator, immediately scheduled me to see Dr. Ho on May 14 (Wed), 2025. It was the best arrangement in the whole episode leading to the way of recovery. Dr. Ho meticulously and patiently examined my ears and explained that fluids in my left ear, in fact, are signs of a clogged Eustachian tube. An operation to clean and place a tube in my ear drum will solve this problem. He, then, carefully walked me through the diagnosis and next steps. Due to our family tight schedule from May to the middle of July, Dr. Ho empathetically agreed to move the operation earlier to May 29, 2025. Two weeks later, in the follow up appointment, Dr. Ho told me the good news, everything is great, successful, and no infection. On August 25, 2025, Ms. Kim Aguilar, Registered/Board certified Hearing Aid Practitioner, helped me by putting on the new set of hearing aids for me, took the time to answer all my questions, provided clear and detailed explanations, and guided me carefully through the care process and the handling of my new devices. Her thoroughness and kindness made the entire experience both pleasant and professional. On September 15, 2025, in the follow up appointment, Kim generously gave me cleaning supplies, reassuring that I will still receive support from the Ear Clinic. All in all, I must say that I had a very pleasant, professional experience at the clinic. Now, I can understand conversation like normal. In retrospection, I have to express my sincere appreciation to all the staff at the Ear Clinic, Dr. Ho, Dr. Grewal, Ms. Kim Aguilar, Ms. Victoria Nguyen, who are very knowledgeable, personable, outstanding professionals. Thank you! I definitely give the Ear Clinic a five-star rating and very enthusiastically recommend this Clinic to you. You surely will find your health be at trusted hands.
