Senior Care Path Summary

Bethel Place was founded through the vision of Bethel Mennonite Church and partner churches in Winnipeg. In the early 1970s, church members identified a shortage of quality senior housing and facilities in the community.

A fundraising campaign began in 1975, and five Mennonite churches joined together to form the Board of Directors in 1976.

The facility was developed to address gaps in housing for seniors, with a commitment to quality of life as a guiding principle. The original plan included features such as doctor's offices, beauty salons, food services, recreational facilities and green space.

The official opening was held on September 19, 1980, with participation from provincial and federal government officials.

In 2015, Bethel Place celebrated a significant milestone when its mortgage with the Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation was paid off after 35 years. The facility continues to provide affordable housing in a vibrant and caring community for residents.

My mom lives here. It's lovely! The people walk about and chat together. There's a nice restaurant in case you don't feel like cooking ;) They also have a suite you can rent if you're visiting someone who lives there. It's only $55 a night and it's close to everything. The front desk is helpful and very kind!
