Avoid Jewish General Hospital if you can. I called ahead to confirm they had urology available through the ER and was told yes. That turned out to be completely misleading. I showed up at 7:00 PM, got registered, and immediately dealt with a nurse who was rude and dismissive for no reason. Telling a sick patient “you can infect others” without offering any solution, then replying “I don’t know” when asked what to do, is not just unprofessional—it’s absurd. I then waited the entire night. Around 5–6 AM, I overheard another patient arguing with staff about their attitude, which says a lot about the environment there. Eventually, a doctor told me a urologist would be available by 8:00 AM. At 8:30 AM, I was told they were “aware” of my case but couldn’t give any timeline. No communication, no accountability. Because the ER is wide open, you can hear everything. The same doctor spent the morning brushing off patient after patient with the exact same lines: “take painkillers,” “it’s not severe,” “wait it out.” It felt like a script, not actual medical care. By 10:30 AM, after more than 15 hours of waiting, I was told urology wouldn’t see me—no explanation, no plan, no timeline, nothing. Just “we can’t help you.” This is after I came in specifically because I was told they could. What makes this worse is that my issue is not complex and can be handled with a short 10 minutes procedure. Yet this hospital claims they don’t have the time, space, or equipment? That’s hard to believe. This experience was a complete waste of time and a clear example of a system that is disorganized, poorly managed, and lacking basic respect for patients. Long waits are one thing—being misled, ignored, and treated with attitude is another. If you value your time and health, look elsewhere—private if you can, or even outside the country if that’s an option.

I just had back surgery (TLIF) on March 25th at the Jewish General Hospital. The surgeon was Dr. Oliver Lasry. He spotted a genetic dedect on one of my disk right away where two previous neuro surgeon had failed. He used donor bones for this at the same time of the TLIF. He visited me three times after the operation and called me home to ask me how things were going. Perfectly bilingual, calm and of course top rated everywhere I asked after a 5 year search on my part to find the best back surgeon in Québec. Same with his team and staff. The facilities are unequaled in my view. Ultra modern and very fully equiped. Very happy how things are turning out for me.

Horrible experience during my colonoscopy today. Will have to live with that horrific moment of having the doctor and her nurse both go at me with an absolute lack of empathy and completely against basic professional work ethics and lying in their report to back each other up afterwards. I heard negative feedback about that hospital and thought people were exaggerating... they weren't!
