Senior Care Path Summary
Alpine Counselling Clinic has served the Vancouver community for over 30 years under director Claire Maisonneuve. The clinic employs 27 mature professionals with valuable life experience, specifically described as qualified to work with older adults who need sensible, practical support for anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns common in later life.
Both in-person and online counselling are available, with flexible scheduling including evening and weekend hours (9 am–8 pm weekdays, and Saturdays and Sundays). Video conferencing and phone counselling from home are offered as accessible alternatives for clients with mobility challenges or those who prefer to stay home.
Direct Neurofeedback is available as an alternative therapy for clients whose anxiety, depression, or stress haven't responded well to talk therapy alone. This brain-based treatment is reported to produce quick, lasting results and may appeal to older adults seeking non-medication support or a complementary approach.
The clinic addresses mental health concerns prevalent in seniors, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, trauma, PTSD, and stress-related conditions. Two family physicians have endorsed the clinic in testimonials, one noting over 27 years of referrals with "remarkable" results for anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns. Staff speak English, French, Spanish, and Farsi.

I have been seeing Laura at Alpine Counselling doing Direct Neurofeedback to help specifically with my driving anxiety. I cannot recommend Laura and this treatment enough. Laura patiently and professionally explained the treatment to me and set up a treatment plan to help me with my driving anxiety. She is empathetic , supportive and encouraging and also very personable . She texts me the day after treatment to see how I am doing. I feel I am in the best hands with Laura !

Mitra Heidarpanah helped me immensely. I will never forget my very first session with her. At that time, I was extremely upset, hopeless, and depressed, and I felt disconnected from almost everything—especially my career. I had lost a great deal of my self-confidence and felt very discouraged professionally. Through the regular weekly sessions I had with Mitra, I was able to find myself again. I regained my confidence, started making progress in my career, and even found the motivation to apply for a new position. On a personal level, I also finally rediscovered myself and gained much more clarity and balance in my life. Mitra is incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and kind. She is an outstanding and truly excellent counselor who can help in many different areas of life. I am deeply grateful to her support, and I truly feel that I will want to continue my sessions with her long-term.

We’ve had a great experience with the center for over six years. Maryam Abdipour is wonderful with kids—friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. She has built a strong relationship with my children. We first started during COVID to help relieve some stress, and we’ve continued ever since. My kids love seeing her every week. Highly recommend.
