Laksman Doell Psychology
a month ago · via Google
At Laksman Doell Psychology, we work exclusively with adults. So when a child or teenager needs support, we send them to Red Oak. Every time. What they've built here is genuinely hard to find in Toronto. Psychology, neuropsychology, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, executive function coaching, all under one roof, with the clinical depth to hold complex kids and the warmth to hold their families too. The assessments are rigorous. The treatment is evidence-based. And families feel held through the whole process, not just triaged and handed off. We refer here because we trust this team completely. And in this field, that trust is not given lightly.

Red Oak has an extremely rigid and unreasonable cancellation policy - my son vomited in our car on the way to an appointment for occupational therapy at Red Oak and was for obvious reasons, unable to attend. Red Oak did not use any discretion given the situation and billed us for the full session on the basis of late cancellation. Would they have preferred to have a sick child covered in vomit attend? What is the Red Oak policy on attendance at the facility while ill? Do they believe that clients should attend the facility despite being ill and expose others to illness in order to avoid being charged 100% of the session fee? This type of unwillingness to make an exception to their policy has lost them a client who has paid thousands to their business. We are taking our child to an alternative service provider that can use common sense, discretion and compassion when dealing with ill clients and can make exceptions to their policies when their clients are dealing with circumstances which are clearly out of their control.

Brynne is a wonderful, experienced OT who has helped my son develop his self-regulation and growth mindset skills. She is kind, patient, and always incorporates his interests to make therapy fun! Since working with Brynne, he’s better able to manage frustration, try challenging tasks with more confidence, and use regulation strategies both during sessions and at home. He always looks forward to his sessions with Brynne, thanks to the safe and affirming environment she creates.
