  The staff at Chartwell Kanata create a home-like atmosphere in their residence. They are personal, warm and responsive to their clients' needs. As a family member of a 7 year resident, I heartily recommend taking a tour and talking frankly about your concerns. Each time we asked for an accommodation to my mother's individual needs, the staff did their utmost to fulfill it. At the end of her life, they were nothing short of angelic.

  My parents visited a number of other retirement residences before deciding Chartwell Kanata was right for them. They felt the Shirley’s Brook location was big enough that they could make lots of new friends, but small enough that it would feel like a family. And that is exactly how it has been all these years. Never was that more evident then when we lost my Dad in 2018. The staff showed such compassion and care with my Mom. They made sure she was looked after not only physically but emotionally as well. With extra check-ins and hugs, she didn’t feel alone. The staff at Chartwell take the time to get to know the residents and provide individualized care to meet their needs. On top of that, the building and gardens are well maintained and the food is good and plentiful. There is always a remarkable array of activities and events on the social calendar. Even during Covid, staff found creative ways to keep spirits up while keeping everyone safely distanced. Knowing my Mom is so well looked after and happy where she lives gives me such peace of mind. My Mom and I are both grateful to the staff at Chartwell Kanata for all that they do.

  This post is being made by Carol Asselstine My Mother has been a resident at Chartwell Kanata Retirement Residence for 7 .5 years. Having her at Chartwell Kanata has given me peace of mind that she is safe and very well cared for. The nursing staff are excellent and always available to answer questions and concerns. The residence offers varied activities to provide stimulation for both mind and spirit. Over the past twelve months of the Covid pandemic the residence has had not one outbreak thanks to the efforts and very hard work of the entire staff. The Manager sends out an email at least once a week about the pandemic as it relates to Chartwell as well as updates on activities and other events related to the residence which for me is very reassuring. I am so grateful to all the staff at Chartwell for their care and support for my Mother and myself over the past 7.5years.
