I live here. St. Andrew’s Place is a seniors apartment complex for people 50 years old and older. It’s very secure with cameras and secure entrances that require a key fob to enter all areas. To get into the building, to enter the hallway and enter your apartment. There are different types of apartments. Small 1 bedroom 1 bath room, large 1 bedroom 1 bathroom and two bedroom two bathroom apartments. Rent is based upon the size of your apartment. Heat, hydro and water is all included in the rent. There is an option for air conditioning. You must purchase a portable air conditioner. No window units. Also the company requires $130 for the air conditioning season for the extra electricity used. There is underground parking for 25 vehicles at 60 a month which is added to your monthly rent. There are many activities though out the year. Since the renovations were completed, the place is very nice. The staff is very helpful. The maintenance staff is very thorough and easy to get along with. The building is very quiet. The most noise is from outside. Street cleaners snow plows, traffic. There are a few issues with this place. 1 the location. It’s is right in the centre of downtown Sudbury. It’s not the best neighbourhood. There’s lots of crime, homeless people, panhandlers and many people who are simply standing around doing nothing. There’s lots of garbage that gets blown around on weekends. Spring time is the worst before the city starts the cleanup process. During the summer months, cleaning is done Monday to Friday. I have been living here for almost 5 years now and the windows have never been cleaned on the outside. The fire alarm system is tested once every month and there is a evacuation drill once a year. One important thing is that being a seniors apartment, it can get very warm in your apartment. The heating system is gas/hot water. So the temperature cannot be controlled in your apartment. The coldest that it’s ever been in my apartment was 20’C (68’F) The hottest was 32’C (90’F) windows closed. The windows are open pretty well year round. The comfortable time of year is from May to September when the heat is off. I will guarantee that you will never be cold. In conclusion, I would recommend this place. See website for more information. PS if you want to really enjoy this place, you just have to pay your rent on or before the due date.

Where the heating is concerned it leaves a lot to be desired. The heat is on at maximum all winter long. Even doing light housework we are covered in sweat. When I spoke to numerous other residents they advised me that they keep their windows and air conditioners open all winter as they are way too warm. What is wrong with these owners? From all the complaints they received and yet nothing is being done. Let's keep these poor seniors living in this God awful heat and let the homeless freeze to death on the streets. I did buy a thermostat and the heat was 80 degrees last week in the apartment. We can barely have that kind of heat in our best summer months. No petitions, nothing. The elderly always have a hard time rocking the boat as they fear losing their homes. A very sad and dire situation. Shame on you....owners.

I have placed some individuals here and they could not be more happy! The building is fantastic and the services that are offered and amazing! Many individuals say that they love how secure it is! There are multiple doors that are locked. They love that they feel safe, especially downtown. They have that they are close to everything and that there are lots of activities available. The moving process could not be more easier. They were very accommodating! I would recommend this senior living building to anyone!
