This review is regarding my evaluation (for cataract surgery) after seeing Doctor Wise. Doctor Wise was friendly. She advised that she would not be doing my surgery because she was due to have her baby. But she reassured me her colleague was more than capable. It was the rest of the evaluation that was disappointing. Not terrible. Not great. Rote. Pro forma I suppose. I’m sure examining elderly eyeballs hour after hour can be…dull. One just hopes that when one’s own eyeballs are on the other end of the evaluation some enthusiasm might be mustered. I’m afraid I’ve had to rely on YouTube videos to advance my understanding of the basics where cataracts and cataract surgery are concerned. All in all the clinic team were efficient if less than warm.

I had cataract surgery on both eyes done by Dr Wise Nov and Dec 2022. The website is right when it states that "personalized cataract surgery utilizing state-of-the-art intraocular lenses (IOLs) can potentially grant you superior vision compared to your pre-cataract state...”. Dr Wise listened to my description of having a lifelong lazy left eye and of having gained a measure of binocular fusion and resulting intermittent 3D vision due to careful prescribing for my glasses lenses over the previous 20 years. She not only took that into account when choosing my lenses, she improved on the existing situation so that my binocular fusion became permanent and I had what I assume is fully 3D vision for the first time in 81 years! I continue to marvel at the wonders of the three-dimensional world nearly 3 years later, and I am so grateful for Dr Wise's skill and for her willingness to personalize the correction in my post-cataract lenses to make this result possible. P.S. at my recent follow-up appointment for suspected progression towards glaucoma, I expressed surprise that I hadn't seen the doctor following my visual field and other testing and had been told that I wouldn't be seeing her until spring. They asked me to wait, and just a few minutes later assured me that I could see Dr Wise that day after one additional test. I did, and after explaining my results, she explained to me (again) the schedule whereby I would have visual field testing in 6 months, but wouldn't see her on that appointment, but only a year from now. Amazing flexibility in the part of Dr Wise and of tech and front desk staff!

Worst patient service of my life. They were extremely rude over the phone. I’m just a person trying to get a second opinion on my conjunctival nevus, which has been getting bigger and more painful over time. The first doctor I was referred to after the ER simply said it wasn’t cancer—but still, why is it painful? No one here in Canada seems able to help me.
