We hired Royal Home Improvements for a bathroom renovation in our Toronto condo at a cost of approximately $79,000 for a 76-square-foot space, with no plumbing relocation. We agreed to this premium price because the company promotes its integrity, communication, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect those promises. While the tradespeople’s workmanship was generally competent, the project suffered from significant communication and project-management issues. Several design elements that were discussed, confirmed in writing, and reflected in renderings were not delivered as expected, including aspects of the shower and cabinetry. In some cases, substitutions or changes were made without proper consultation. In the end, they offered to come back to “fix” some of the mistakes, but we had no confidence that the job would be completed in the suggested, and in our view, unrealistic time frame. Any further “fixing” would have required us to be out of our condo for several days and they were not willing to pay for our required accommodation despite online reviews indicating precedence for this. They then offered us a small discount on the condition that we sign a non-disclosure, non-disparagement agreement. We declined. Most concerning was being presented at the end of the project with additional charges that we had not approved in writing, despite the contract requiring written agreement for changes. At this price point, we expected careful coordination, transparency, and strict adherence to agreed specifications. Instead, there were repeated surprises and a disconnect between what was promised and what was ultimately delivered. We attempted to resolve matters reasonably, but the process became unnecessarily difficult.

I had major renovations done to my home with Royal Home Improvements some time ago. Today I had to do a repair on one of my renovations, and I was told by the contractor, that the job originally done, was not completely properly. Also, I had some other areas of the house that were done by Royal, and now have to do some repairs that contractors are saying were not done correctly. I am a little disappointed as we spent a lot of money and months of work on our home, and now these hidden errors are arising. Over one hundred thousand in home improvements was done by Royal Home Improvements.

I am having my en suite converted from traditional bath and shower to walk in shower. Robert, Interior Designer, had a great suggestions and impressive designs. John, President, was excellent at adjusting designs to suit my budget. Both gentlemen were polite, friendly and helpful. I look forward to working with them and Royal Home Improvements.
