Senior Care Path Summary
Savaria Lifts Alberta is a direct sales, service, and installation office established in 2009, headquartered in Calgary with a field office in Edmonton. The team serves the full range of Alberta communities and specializes in aging-in-place solutions. They offer through-floor lifts (such as the two-stop Luma) designed specifically for seniors aging at home, a full lineup of Savaria and Handicare stairlifts (straight and curved), and vertical platform wheelchair lifts for residential and commercial spaces.
The company employs factory-trained, licensed technicians certified to meet provincial elevator regulations and building codes. Installation services include mechanical systems, electrical setup, and compliance verification. They also provide long-term maintenance plans and repair services to keep equipment running safely and reliably for years.
For seniors considering home modifications, Savaria Lifts works closely with homeowners and design teams on free consultations to assess site conditions and recommend the most suitable solution. They handle standard permits and code requirements, and offer design options from compact through-floor lifts that require minimal space to traditional home elevators with customizable aesthetics.
The showroom in Calgary (open by appointment) invites homeowners to discuss aging-in-place projects and explore options face-to-face.

On July 15 the install of my stairlift was started... today is September 26 and I still do not have full functionality of my lift. I have called numerous times to request an update as to when it will be completed. It seems that the only messages to get through were ones before I signed the contract. This company has a total lack of follow-through, integrity, and customer service. Do yourself a favor; give Savaria a miss!

If you live in Edmonton, you should NOT buy from this company. They do not have a tech in Edmonton - and have not for months. The website says they do - this is untrue. When I bought from them, I was concerned that if I needed service, it would be an issue as the company is located in Calgary. I was reassured that this would definitely not be the case. However, timely service has been a HUGE issue. My basement tenant is dependent on the stairlift to get out of the house. We have had multiple issues with our lift over the past few months. Every time I call for service, it is a minimum two week wait for the initial appointment. They make a diagnosis but have to return to Calgary for parts, and then it is another 2-3 weeks until they come back to fix it. Last time the visit was scheduled but it snowed and so they could not travel on the highway. Completely understandable - but the rebooked appointment was not until two weeks later! This means my tenant would be left in the basement for a minimum of 4 weeks - and then they would need to return to Calgary for parts.... Also note they charge 145$ an hour for travel. My first bill was more than 500$ - purely for the diagnosis. This did not include any parts or the actual repair. I have since found another service provider who is based in Edmonton - they come within 48 hours and do not charge for travel time. I must say that their front desk person (Anna) was lovely and always did her best to help me but there is little she can do when there is no tech in town.

We needed to replace one of the stairlifts in my parent’s home. We had developed a relationship with one vendor who was already servicing the lifts in the home for 8 years and had always provided good service. But, during covid, they decided to only communicate via email and would not provide personalized service. After several inquiries with different vendors, we decided to go with Savaria. Jason was so knowledgeable on their products, always available via phone or email to answer any questions and very patient as we had to wait for approval on government funding. He made sure my parents were happy and kept in communication, so I was in the loop. He even made a video so I could see who I was working with. I didn’t realize what I was missing with the other company until I started talking with Jason. Then, after the install, we had to make some minor tweaks to the chair and that’s when I was able to go out and meet Hugo who provided different options to customize the chair according to my mother’s requirements due to lack of mobility on her left side. Hugo made the necessary adjustments and provided tips on helping her get in and out of the chair with ease. His attention to detail made me feel confident that my mother was safe with their product. Both Jason and Hugo show such passion for the work they do and it’s very clear they care about their customers’ safety and well being. Thank you for taking such good care. I would not hesitate to recommend Savaria to anyone.
