My elderly bedridden grandmother was taken to Bevan Village and was scheduled to stay in respite for a month. After a week of her staying there our family has decided to pull her out early. The room she stays in has zero air conditioning. She stays in a room next to a window with the sun bearing into her room on her bed. Someone from our family went to visit her and discovered that the room was outrageously hot, about 26-30 degrees. Last night a nurse was rushed in on an emergency to help with her because she was in an emergency critical state having a hard time breathing due to her being way too hot. After the family witness complained vehemently to the staff, the blame was put on him saying “it is the family’s responsibility to provide air conditioning in her room”. It was noted that the staff at the front desk hanging out having a good time did have air conditioning so at least they were ok while grandma was upstairs dying. Also it was observed that Grandma was half tilted off the side of her bed almost falling off. Also the food they served her looked like something they would serve in a prison. Some Spagetti and “meatballs” aka, a plate of noodles with 1 tiny little meatball and some red sauce. Oh and a stale dried piece of bread on the side. 🤢 If you value your elderly loved ones, you have been warned, DONT send them here!

Dealing with Cassandra whilst dealing with major difficulties at home with my mother, with early stage Dementia, made my life 100X worse. My mother would constantly do things like phoning the police, accusing me of stealing her keys or Tv remote control. And just fighting me on every little thing. So when I was trying to get my mom into (much needed) respite at Trillium Bevan Lodge, Cassandra did not try to be helpful, which is supposed to be part of her job since she apparently is supposed to understand about Caregiver burnout whilst caring for a family member with dementia problems and how extremely stressful and under pressure caregivers can get. Instead, she was extremely difficult with me and made my stress level skyrocket. So much so that she ended up "blackballing" my mother from Bevan Lodge" due to her "personal resentment" or what not towards me. I find it extremely, extremely unprofessional as my mom had had her name on their list and was called three different times but wanted to still stay at home with me. And I was willing to keep looking after my mother but I still needed a break every now and then and Bevan Lodge was the only place in Abbotsford for her. Otherwise I had to look into other cities. So blackballing her, because of me, was just so petty and immature, irresponsible, unprofessional and just a plain "mean girl" bully!!! I really think Cassandra really needs better or more training, as her understanding and lack of empathy towards extremely stressed out caregivers leaves much to be desired. And her overreacting or oversensitivity to someone who was just trying to do their best on their own with absolutely no help or support from anyone. Family or otherwise, was just plain unprofessionalism.
