Kelso Pines Retirement Home

Okay a couple things, overall it’s a solid place. Staff are relatively nice, usually good service, other than the odd time I’ve had issues. I do have a couple things to note about meal times however. There’s been a number of times I’ve been in visiting during dinner and there’s been dirty dishes. Not just that they had a couple spots after the dishwasher, but that they had dried coffee stains and definitely hadn’t gone through the dishwasher. They were put back upside down with the clean mugs on the tables to be used. The tables also hadn’t been wiped down in some time as they had spilled salt, sticky spots, and other various stains(coffee, tea, etc). Everyone working was very unorganised and didn’t quite seem to know what they were doing; they took the same orders more than once, couldn’t keep track of who got what, forgot to take a couple of residents to meal time, and didn’t know why there wasn’t any juice or cream and milk out. This could have just been an off day, but I’ve seen this happen more than once. Another thing is that the rooms need to be cleaned more often, I’ve gone in multiple time to visit a parent and the floors looked like they hadn’t been swept in weeks. Overall Kelso Pines is a decent place, they listen to concerns will the intent to fix them and staff are usually very kind to both residents and visitors. My parent has had an easy time transferring from the hospital to there to home and back, everyone is very supportive and happy to help. I make this review as more of a constructive criticism and feedback than general negativity. Thank you
