  Lakeridge is the best hospital in Durham. My guest was admitted recently to urgent care after suffering from a seizure. I truly appreciate start from paramedics to lakeridge hospital staff and Doctors for taking care of him and saving a life. Than you Lakeridge health for all the great work you do!!

  I had a very drastic fall and came here with a fractured leg and foot whole body was shook up left side hurt hurting hip hurting and head hurting. I had been lying outdoors on the ground for at least 45 minutes before I was brought in. The ambulance team was incredible extremely patient and understanding. The staff was generally pretty good but the disgusting experience I had was from the head nurse Ashley. I was told that I had to leave the hospital once my cast was put on because I needed the hospital bed. I was on painkillers due to pain. I had told the staff that my husband was going to come straight for me once he was done work and he was already on route as he works from downtown. There was no empathy shown and they said they were gonna wheel me into the waiting room. I told them that I could not even sit upright due to the pain levels. I told them I was borderline diabetic and I was starved. This is the point where I asked to speak with a head nurse because I thought she would offer some compassion. I said to her if I sit up on that chair and you will see me likely fall. The nurse became very irritable and did not even let me finish my sentence as I was trying to tell her that I was not in a position to get up. She walked off saying don’t you dare threaten me. I looked around and I could not understand why she was yelling at me rather than offering me compassion or offering me a way to get some orange juice because I’m borderline diabetic and I was given no food for the last seven hours? Deep down I just feel one thing racism! This is a hospital based in Oshawa what do I expect? I hope people like Ashley can learn that in the position of being a discharge nurse one of the key things needed is compassion. Her behaviour was so disgusting of not even wanting to have a discussion with me. I would expect more compassion from a four-year-old having a tantrum in a play yard. Hospital in place where you are taken care of. Please drive an extra hour and go to a decent hospital and not go to lakeridge just because it’s close by. No one deserves to have this kind of treatment. I hope Ashley has a good night after knowing how she impacted me today!
