I can't say enough good things about Luxstone. Ive spent a lot of time at the manor over the past few years and I've seen many changes. The current management team is fantastic. They care about the seniors and their staff. They are constantly working hard to make improvements to the building and services. The new kitchen manager seems very knowledgeable and has improved the food a lot. The dining staff is kind to the residents and always willing to help out. The desk staff are easy to talk to and make the residents feel like family. They do their best to help the seniors in any way they can. I could go on and on with positive comments. The only negative comment I have would be that the carpet in the hallways of the upper floors should be replaced but I think that will be happening as they are doing improvements to other areas of the building.

After reading some of the past reviews it became clear that an update was necessary. My elderly parent has been a resident for several years, although luxstone provides a safe place for the residence they seem to have an ongoing issue with meal planning, nutrition and food quality. They have continuous food service staff turnover, and as result of cost control have lost the confidence of the residents to provide quality meals. After repeated attempts by the residents to get meaningful improvement none seems to be made. Many residents have to supplement the meals by bringing on their own food to prepare. At the cost to live at Luxstone, this is unacceptable. Update June 2024 : The unacceptable food services continues to be dismal and not well managed. The only effort to improve the meal planning and preparation for the cients at Luxstone is lip service. Poorly planned, poorly prepared, often cold, overcooked, and foods with low nutritional value. This is what the management of the place thinks is acceptable. This is seriously sad for the residents, (customers) who are being taken advantage of. I hear almost daily about the dismal meals being prepared. Some residents are often going without meals because of the lack of care and attention by the kitchen staff. Please take immediate action!

My mother lived at the Luxstone rather comfortably for over three years. Staff cheerfully greeted us upon every arrival. I found that every level of staff was invested in learning my mothers name and tending to her needs as an individual. She really liked that she could have her hair done on site by such a friendly and skilled stylist. My mother often said how much she liked her room and the staff. When her needs became to great for assisted living, the staff went out of their way to care for her while she waited for a supportive living location. Our research showed us that the Luxstone was a more affordable choice than anything Calgary could provide and it was only a 30 minute drive.
