Thank you Dr. Janusz Tobola and Metro Hearing and Tinnitus Treatment Clinic team for giving my mother her life back! A little over one year after presenting with catastrophic level chronic tinnitus, she is almost completely tinnitus-free, with much improved quality of life, basically functioning at the same level as before her diagnosis. We are very grateful to the entire team for the thorough assessment and compassionate care leading to a personalized treatment plan that proved very efficient in alleviating and significantly reducing, almost eliminating her tinnitus. Despite the language barrier (she does not speak English), Dr. Tobola took the time to explain in detail how the treatment works and what to expect, and this helped tremendously to keep her patient and motivated to continue with all the recommended steps. She has been experiencing progressive improvement and a real breakthrough recently as one of the noises has completely gone, and the other greatly diminished. We are very grateful to the entire team at Metro Hearing and Tinnitus Treatment Clinic and highly recommend this clinic to anyone in need. There is hope!

I had a very disappointing experience with Metro Hearing and Tinnitus Clinic in Mississauga due to poor communication, unclear billing practices, and unprofessional front desk interactions. When the receptionist was on vacation, the clinic became effectively unreachable—calls and emails went unanswered. Even after her return, phone calls during regular business hours were still not consistently answered. I was given confusing information regarding OHIP billing and was told I would need to pay the full cost of a treatment plan while the clinic would also receive OHIP funding. This explanation lacked transparency and raised concerns. I was also told this clinic was the only one in Canada that treats misophonia, which, based on my own research, is not accurate and further impacted my trust. When I attempted to contact the clinic manager for clarification, I received a dismissive response from administrative staff suggesting I discontinue services rather than addressing my questions. Interactions with the front desk receptionist were also unprofessional, including frequent interruptions despite my remaining respectful. As a result, the clinic lost a customer. Clear communication and professionalism are essential in healthcare, and word of mouth goes a long way. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic.

In March 2025 I went to Metro Hearing and Tinnitus Clinic with severe hyperacusis. At first they were great but it quickly turned into a very frustrating and stressful experience. 1. Inflexibility: They were extremely rigid in their in-person policy. Due to ongoing illness I requested the ONE TIME accommodation of a phone call with the clinician, which was denied several times. I was left an aggressive voicemail by their receptionist saying that hyperacusis can’t be treated virtually and that I wouldn’t get better if I didn’t come in. Note: I am now with a virtual clinic and receiving excellent care (and getting better!) so do your homework if you’re looking for flexibility. 2. Unavailability of audiologist: After the initial hearing test I was passed off to a clinician, who then started to pass me off to one of their psychotherapists, who was lovely but couldn’t answer my questions about decibel levels and hearing protection. 3. Disjointed psychotherapy experience: It is great that they include psychotherapy as a part of their treatment but it felt disjointed. The two sessions I attended were spent answering questions about my childhood, which provided me with no help in coping with my hyperacusis. The therapist cancelled two other sessions just an hour before they were supposed to start (once I can understand but twice seemed weird). I’d recommend finding a clinic where the audiologists are trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) specific to hyperacusis and tinnitus, where they focus only on that and don’t bounce you around between different people. Basically, my experience with Metro was over $5,500 down the drain. I got so frustrated with them that I found somewhere else. A request for partial reimbursement was ghosted. Do your homework before making this costly investment
