  I am currently working with Alan on an extensive renovation project in Victoria and appreciate the high level of care and attention that he has brought to the project. He is collaborative in his approach to design, an excellent communicator, and has expertly managed our Integrated Design Process.   Upon our arrival from Ontario to purchase our new home in Victoria, we asked several realtors who they would recommend as one of the better general contractors in Victoria. Alan, of MacMinn Contracting was consistently and highly recommended. Subsequently, we purchased our home and returned to Ontario knowing that we would be undertaking an extensive renovation of our 1940's home with MacMinn Contracting. We were so glad we did! While we were still out of province, Alan arranged and oversaw all aspects of our renovation starting with an energy evaluation, asbestos removal, complete interior redesign and a complete gut of the home's interior. Upon our return to Victoria, we were frequently introduced to Alan's trades people and team whom he called upon for various jobs. All had fantastic things to say about Alan's work ethic, interpersonal and organizational skills. On several occasions, sub-contractors mentioned something along the lines of "when Alan calls us in to do a job, we know he is in fact ready; unlike a lot of other prime contractors ..." We completely agree. Alan's professionalism and great relationships with numerous sub-contractors (trades people) throughout the entire process proved invaluable. He was always a couple of steps ahead, recognizing required lead times and he communicated frequently and efficiently. Most importantly, he set everyone's expectations appropriately and did not make promises or commitments he felt he could not keep. After all was said and done, Alan oversaw the complete re-development of the interior of our home. As a consequence we are now benefitting from an entirely new home with new electrical, plumbing, insulation, and heating. The interior of our home has also been redesigned and is functionally improved with an extra bathroom, walk-in closet and a lovely in-law suite. Alan respected our budget and time limitations and made every effort to finish the job in a timely manner. He also provided excellent advice regarding the numerous decisions that had to be made along the way. Further, Alan has an excellent system for tracking invoices which made it simple to verify monthly billing. We would not hesitate to recommend Alan for any residential renovation project.   We chose Alan over several other contractors because his estimate was so careful and detailed. Once work was under way he proved to be an excellent choice. He was well organized and prompt with communication. All his suppliers and contractors were lined up when needed. Any questions we had were answered promptly, often within minutes. When unforeseen problems arose, as they do in large projects such as this, Alan was forthright about additional costs and tried to minimize them without sacrificing quality. We are happy to recommend him as a contractor.
