GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CONTRACTOR! We have a big old wood house that needed to be painted. It had been let go so much that a lot of the exterior of the house had rotted, shutters needed to be replaced and deck needed a re-vamp. We had quite a few companies look at the work that needed to be done and we couldn’t be happier we went with Murph Contracting. Andrew and his crew are very kind, considerate and professional. The job was completed within budget and the work is first class. Andrew organized everything, including painters (who were also amazing). We’ve received so many compliments on the completed work. Apart from original work, we had a skylight that started to cave in during a storm so we called Andrew who came over within 20 minutes and made the area safe until repair could be made. We will definitely be calling Murph Contracting for any future jobs. It was such a positive experience from start to finish. If you’re looking for a contractor that is trustworthy, efficient and does quality work - This is the way to go, they are the BEST!

I hired Andrew (Murph Contracting) to resurface a deck on my house that was covered with vinyl and formed the roof of a storage area. The job involved removing the existing vinyl, replacing the plywood underneath which was water damaged, and resurfacing with vinyl. He sent a crew of people over to do the work. Four months later I discovered that one of the workers had obviously set a skill saw down on the deck and cut the new vinyl. Whether that person noticed or not I don’t know. I brought it to Andrew’s attention and he sent someone over to address it. That worker (the one who had done the original work) cut open the ceiling on the inside of the storage room to air it out, and I never heard back from him again. The vinyl installer came by and said he could not repair the vinyl until the railings on the deck were removed and that he would contact Andrew. I never heard from him again either. The ceiling was left open and insulation hanging down into the room for about 2 and a half months (see picture) until I followed up. When I followed up, Andrew acted surprised like he thought the job had been fixed. Andrew blamed his worker for not telling him what was going on. After following up multiple times over the next couple weeks I got him to get the vinyl contractor back and put a new sheet on and to repair the interior of the room. It turns out the vinyl installer ran out of vinyl and left a gap of my wall uncovered (see picture). Andrew and the installer did not inform me of this defect. I discovered this a couple years later and when I brought it to Andrew’s attention he blamed the installer, claiming he did not know. If that is true it means he did not bother to inspect the quality of the work...or he knew and hid it from me. Some time later the ceiling in the storage room began to mould. I had the drywall and insulation removed to eliminate the mould. This removal revealed a startling deficiency in the work done by Murph Contracting. A number of the joists under the plywood were rotten and damaged by carpenter ants. This was not apparent from inside because of the drywall, but would have been obvious from above when the plywood was replaced. The workers dealt with one of the rotten joists by cutting a section of it out and then putting in a new piece of wood, which they only secured by screws into the plywood it was supporting. There was nothing supporting this joist segment but the drywall below and the plywood above. It was otherwise floating and not providing any structural reinforcement at all (see picture). The other rotten joists were just left in place. Had their condition been brought to my attention in the first place I would have had them all replaced or sistered. Andrew first denied his crew installed the floating joist, but when he came to look at it (and could no longer deny it) he agreed to replace the joist. I also pointed out to him that there was clear water damage in the plywood under the seams in the vinyl indicating that the seams were leaking and needed to be resealed (see pictures). He tried to tell me that the water must have traveled up from beneath and up the wall and the seams were fine. Essentially denying there was any leak so he wouldn’t have to fix it, despite obvious evidence to the contrary. When confronted with the gap in the vinyl on the wall, he offered to lower the siding, taking it out of code to cover the gap, so as not to incur any further expense for himself on new vinyl. When I told Andrew I did not accept his proposal to fix the job, he ghosted me! In short, Murph Contracting has done negligent, substandard, and frankly unsafe work. Andrew himself has not been forthright, blaming others for mistakes and not taking any accountability for the work I paid him to do. The only thing he was fastidious about was collecting payment. I can’t imagine this company being capable of doing a larger, complex job.

I highly recommend Murphy contracting, he responded quickly, got a quote for a fence right away, the job was done in four days. The whole experience was amazing, they left the job every day very clean. The fence exceeded my expectations.
