  I researched deeply to find a retirement community for my 89 year old mother who had always lived with a family member. This was not a voluntary optional move but one that had become unavoidable. I'm not sure who was more terrified of the pending transition...my mother or myself. I was looking for the right people as much as the right place. Online, people consistently mentioned Ashley Akins as an extraordinarily caring and capable point person. I called Chartwell Harwood and after speaking to Ashley the first time, I knew, this was the place. Due to logistical circumstances, and thanks to Ashley, most of the arrangements were made remotely without the benefit for an in-person visit. A stress free experience. The moment we walked into the building and were welcomed by Ashley and the staff, I knew this was right. Within a week of expected nervous transitioning, my mother embraced a space that caters to her independence desire while greatly elevating her social circle. She is fully engaged and happy. Forever grateful to Ashley, the staff and generous welcoming residents at Chartwell Harwood. This is a true carimg home for my mother.

  We took a tour of Chartwell Harwood in April during their open house. Ashley Akins greeted us and showed us around. We were very impressed with the facilities, the activities and services that are offered and the units are very spacious. My mother in law just moved in this past week and seems to be adjusting well. We are. Rey pleased that she chose to move there. We highly recommend.

  We just moved our Mother into Chartwell Harwood in Ajax last week and we’ve had the most wonderful experience so far, we couldn’t be more pleased. Ashley is amazing and goes above and beyond for us and our Mom. Starting from the detailed tour to the actual move in, everything has gone seamlessly. She answered all of our 100 questions with a big smile on her face. Ashley has been very understanding and patient with the transition and has gone the extra mile to include my Mother in all the activities to make her feel comfortable and welcome. It has been a great peace of mind for myself and my Brother knowing she is in great hands here at Chartwell and just knowing they have her best interest at heart. Thankyou so much Ashley and all the staff at Chartwell Harwood!
