  I am deeply disappointed with my experience at Fergus Place. Having my mother live here has been one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made, and that is incredibly hard to say. There has been constant turnover in General Managers, which shows in the lack of leadership and oversight. Activities for residents are minimal to non-existent, which greatly impacts quality of life. I have repeatedly observed dietary staff wearing visibly dirty uniforms, which raises concerns about hygiene and food safety. On one visit, I went to speak with the office manager and found her son, who also works at the residence, eating a plate of sausages and napping in her office. This was shocking and unprofessional. The environment itself is also concerning. There is a persistent smell of urine and cigarettes throughout parts of the building, which is unacceptable in a retirement residence. Residents deserve dignity, cleanliness, and proper care. Families deserve transparency and accountability. Unfortunately, Fergus Place has fallen far short of those expectations.

  My mom’s stay at Fergus Place Retirement Home was short, but the love and compassion she received will stay with our family forever. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this was a place where people truly care. We were supported by an incredible team of compassionate professionals, from the Executive Director Jennifer, to the Medical Director Mili, and the Director of Recreation Brooklyn. Their kindness and leadership were reflected throughout the entire home and in the many dedicated PSWs who cared for my mom with dignity, patience, and genuine warmth. Most of all, we will miss Pearl, the PSW who cared for my mom daily and became her advocate when I could not always be there. Saying goodbye to Pearl was emotional, with tears on both sides, knowing she would no longer be part of our everyday lives. That kind of connection goes far beyond a job, it’s love and heart. Leaving Fergus Place felt less like leaving a retirement home and more like saying goodbye to family. While it was a difficult goodbye, I am deeply grateful for the care, comfort, and compassion my mom and our family were given. Thank you for everything. 💛

  Heartfelt Thanks to the Fergus Place Team Dear Springliving, I just wanted to extend my sincerest thanks for the wonderful experience you’ve provided from beginning to end as we transitioned my dad into Fergus Place. From our very first visit, your team has been present, patient, and incredibly supportive, answering every question and including us each step of the way. Kristie tour was fabulous, and the themed takeaway gift was such a thoughtful touch that truly showcased the warmth and creativity of your community. Fergus made what could have been a stressful process feel comfortable, personal, and even fun. We also have to mention how much we love Hank and Teddy—those sweet visits bring so many smiles and add such a special energy to the home.
