My heart is filled with immense gratitude and appreciation for the doctors, nurses, psw’s, volunteers and all staff at May Court. My father was admitted last week and passed away shortly after. We had a large amount of family members constantly visiting as my father was dearly beloved by many and we were told this was the largest wave of visitors they had.. still they were careful and attentive to both the care of my father and the fragility of our hearts. I want to say so much more but I am deeply thankful and full of so much gratitude. This place is also a non profit. I highly recommend spending your last few moments with your loved ones here. While we were there, I coincidently had friends whose mother was admitted there and she was also receiving incredible care.

My mother spent her last days there surrounded by a compassionate, caring and supportive staff and volunteers. I was worried the hospice being government run it would be inadequate but I was absolutely wrong it was amazing. My mother was treated with dignity and respect. The negative comments please ignore and visit yourself to see. I was so happy my mother was at Maycourt and not in the hospital. Thank you to all for making those last days for my mother and my family less stressful. Don’t forget to donate and for those negative comments maybe you should volunteer your time if you think you could make it better instead of complaining. Thank you Maycourt angels.

The gardens are beautiful but don't be fooled by the appearances since this place is meant to be efficient. Before deciding to put my dad in the Hospice, I read the comments made by Gilah Langer and indeed, should have been more careful. My dad spent his last 6 days at the hospice which was strongly recommended by the three palliative doctors that came to our house. They repeated over and over that it would be better for my dad and for me since I would only be a daughter there not a caregiver...I reluctantly agreed to do it thinking that he would receive a better care than at home. I regret it deeply. Since day one, dad would not be given any food by mouth (we still fed him at home). Immediately, upon his admission, he was deprived of any food and received sedatives and other pain medications even though he didn't show any pain. Upon his admission, staff seemed nice and compassionate (one older lady at the reception was very rude). Towards the end however, things deteriorated rapidly. My dad's last night was a horror story. My sister and I stayed with him and sadly witnessed a clear lack of compassion from nurses/PSWs. The night shift individuals didn't show any respect for daddy and us, his daughters. Not only were they coming to the room every 2 hours, without knocking, to give him all sorts of medication but also, and mostly upon his passing, which occurred almost immediately after one of the injections, they didn't give us any time to grief. Five minutes after his passing, they barged into the room saying that they must clean his body before it becomes rigid. We were in choc. Imagine your loving father lying there and being treated like that. We weren't given any privacy, none whatsoever. We weren't asking for much. We just wanted to spend some time with him, to pray and mourn him but they didn't even respect that. We were so disgusted with this insensitive behavior that we left. We were deeply hurt and my sister was truly angry and I remember one nurse (or PSW?) asking me : why is she so upset? How could she even ask? It goes without saying that we also had nice nurses/PSW at the Hospice; compassionate people who treated us with respect. However, I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone who cares about his/her dying loved one. The hospice should be more selective with hiring individuals who don't have/show any empathy.
