  Just a note about the billing practises at Grace Manor. I would encourage all family members and SDM’s to check their invoices carefully as Grace Manor seems to have an undisclosed practice of Retroactive Billing. This doesn’t appear anywhere in the policies and procedures manual I was given when my mother moved in. If you happen to be retroactively, billed your question about why you were not notified about the changes prior to being billed will not be answered directly. In my mother‘s case, she was retroactively billed for amounts owing from previous months. When I looked at the invoice, the invoice was not itemized, so I did not know what the charges were for, I only saw a lump sum being debited from her account. The executive director actually emailed me and told me that me noticing the charge on the July 2 invoice after it had been billed. And emailing about it on the same day was me being given advance notice. (I have this ridiculous assertion in writing.) I was shocked that an executive director of anywhere would use such faulty and easily refuted logic. He clearly thought I was uneducated as to the policies and procedures, and perhaps the English language. If you have had similar issues with Grace Manor, please feel free to reach out to me.   Just a note about billing practices at Grace Manor. Please check your monthly invoice for accuracy as Grace Manor will retroactively bill you for things. Your invoice may not even be itemized for the charges, there will simply be a lump sum charge. They did this to my mother, and when I questioned the invoice, they told me it was for amount owing from previous months. I was never told that there were amounts owing from previous months and then they simply went ahead and took the additional funds from my mother‘s account. When I spoke to the executive director About the retroactive billing and asked why I had not been aware what the funds were for and that they were going to be billed prior to billing. He told me that receiving my mother’s invoice on July 2 and seeing that the extra amount has been built and then proceeding to call them on the same day and inquire about the charge was advanced notice. It is my understanding that advanced notice usually comes before a charge has been made not after. Anyone who would like to see full email threads please feel free to contact me as retroactive billing is not standard practice and appeared nowhere in the policies and procedures manual I was given. I have contacted the ministry and will be letting everybody know about the policies that are undisclosed and show them the rude and ridiculous behaviour and statements made by the executive director who clearly thought I was uninformed and would allow him to speak to me in such an unprofessional manner.

  Beautiful retirement home. People are well taken care of and I'm a professional musician and perform there. The staff is fabulous
