I am advocating for my mom and advise others to do so for their elderly parents as well. I have called in on numerous occasions to speak with the west side supervisor - it seems like it is never the same "supervisor" everytime I call. I repeat the same concerns. I feel at this point no matter how often I remind them that 1 day we may all be in these needs, nothing changes. 1) Scheduling - apparently its normal for workers to show 15 minutes or more past scheduled times (but policy is 15 minutes before or after with no notice needed). 2) Dedicated Workers - she has never had the same worker. You open the door to a complete stranger each time. Half the time they never say their names and they are always in a rush. 3) Time with client - originally scheduled for 1 hour yet each worker rushes my mom through her shower and my mom tries her best to hurry and feels unimportant, not seen or heard and uncomfortable. Not 1 worker has reviewed her needs prior to arrival and many pretend to care but truly by their actions it seems to fall on deaf ears. 4) Scheduling issues - Originally set for 1 hour, rushed to get everything done in 15 minutes and advised today without warning she has been downgraded to 30 minutes. So absolutely failing for communication with the clients. Also, why can the schedules not have a proper rotation of 2-3 dedicated workers per client? Other locations in Alberta (large city and rural areas) were able to do this. However, it seems like the administrative staff in this position struggle with it. THERE IS MORE BUT LACK OF SPACE TO ADD

I just spoke to a supervisor asking to have an HCA removed from my mom's care because she asked for him to be. I was not making a complaint, but he had done a couple of things that had concerned my mother. I had two witnesses to the conversation in my home, the "supervisor" told me that mm, the caregivers did not need to lached my mom into a wheelchair that she falls out of without being latched in. My mom can no longer use her legs were moved them on her own, and she cannot stop herself from falling out of the wheelchair. She told me that that would be too restrictive, and she wasn't allowed to do that. Even though every one of the other caregivers, including this gentleman, does it. She told me it wasn't on the care papers. To latch someone in, there's a seatbelt for a reason. My mom is alone for the full day, except for the caregivers that come, and it would have been three hours before my husband could have helped her if she had fallen. Kim, the supervisor continued to say this and talk over me and then yell at me and threatened to hang up on me, which she did in the end. They told me I was being rude and telling her her job, and that I was talking down to her. I wasn't, I was just trying to get words in. She told me I was telling her how to do her job, i wasn't I was telling her how she needed to care for my mom. At the end of the day, we just wanted the gentleman removed from her care. She told me that she would get her manager to call me because I was being rude. Both my husband and my mom spoke up because this was on speakerphone and both of them stated that I wasn't being rude. She also told me I was yelling at her which I was not.She was yelling to talk over me. This is pretty normal for this company. But I haven't seen it this bad. This woman should not work in the care industry. I'm looking forward to her supervisor calling me. This is why we are only with this company until the funding comes in for private care. Don't put your family with this agency.

Very few of the people that work there actually do as requested . Many sit outside in their vehicle talking on their cell phone and listening to music. End result, saying they're in a rush and not doing whatthey sre suppose to . They will eat your food and look in every cupboard . Let food splatter in the microwave and not clean it up . Spill water on the floor and not wipe it up . Some are angry people . The ones that are good , are compassionate caring people . Very few of them . The scheduling employees are rude and talk nasty . Will continue to send people over when advised you will be out of the city . Seems somewhat weird as these people are getting paid for doing nothing . We need a much better home care service than what they offer . Many don't even know how to adjust a sling.. For the ones that are caring . They should be applauded. Management won't even acknowledge the ones that are least desirable. They should be aware of their employees who font follow protocol .
