My experience with this location and the owner Azul was horrible to say the least. I had been my fathers full time care giver for a year and a half after my mother had a stroke and passed 3 months after. He is high needs with dementia and after a year and a half i had come to my limits as a single care giver for the care needs he has. I went here after going to several other location explaining my fathers high needs from needing help to use the bathroom everytime, to his sundowning at night, and the need to have staff redirect him in those instances. I have training and I used to run a home for men with mental disabilities and did everything in all ways for them, which is what my father also needed. I was ensured by Azul that they had dementia care training and could handle all of the issues I listed. He told me they would have a doctor visit once a month to do check ups and that staff would attend to his basic needs of nail care and shaving. All of these promises turned out to be false. In 2 months my father was there they did not have a doctor come once, they did not clip his nails even 1 time and did not shave him until the last Sunday he was there, 2 months with no one shaving him at all. I had given them compression socks to use for him as his feet swell badly and they did not put them on him at all and his feet have swelled a great deal. Because of this and lack of staff attention he fell twice and the first time the worker didn't know how to help him up or have 2 staff there working to help him so they left him and called the fire department who came and helped the tiny old man ro his feet. They did not have proper training in first aid. They attempted to bandage a wound my father had on his elbow and they bandaged his bicep and missed the entire wound. They also did a horrible bandage job on his hand when he fell too. The staff is an eclectic group of new immigrants who all have a very poor grasp of English and would just nod smiling yes to everything I said regardless if they understood or not. To have 3 languages that are not English trying to communicate with seniors who have a hard time hearing is ridiculous and was a major reason nothing was done correctly or at all. There would be 2 workers on at anytime for 15 seniors. 1 cook and 1 worker and nothing was done adequately. When I would push thd button for help it would take 15 to 20 mins for someone to even respond to see what was up. The cleaning was done horribly too, used old water to smear pee water all over leaving it constantly sticky and the urine smell was always over powering. The staff except for 1 lady was argumentative and insulting. The assistant manager was a lady who could not speak English well at all and while I was trying to explain my dads needs she kept interrupting me telling me to be quiet then condescending to me like I was her child and yelled at me in the end which I hung up on her and called the owner. After working in this industry and having run a home myself I know what good care is and what it takes to ensure the safety of all clients, this place is the low end of awful and should be shut down until it can be properly reviewed by SHA and ensure the safety of all the clients there. I will be putting in all of my documentation to the sha and report my experience to hopefully hold Azul accountable to his dishonesty and incompetence as a care home owner.
