  Hired Genie Senior Services to help move stepmother into independent living. From the initial consultation, to missives back and forth, to the actual day of the move, we got great advice and quick response. The crew of five was punctual, congenial, thorough, and professional, complete with a great sense of humour. They worked well together and got the move done quickly, skillfully, and efficiently.   OK...so I had never moved before. I went from my parent's place to my husband's place 35 years ago. I am now with a new partner and moving from a large house I had been in for 35 years was a very stressful endeavor. When Olivia came to give me a quote, she was very patient with all my questions and was reassuring when she responded quickly to my emails and phone calls. I spent 2 months purging and packing to move to my partner's townhouse and put some of my stuff in storage. When moving day arrived, Ryan, Kevin, Ian and Garrett were friendly, efficient, helpful, and took very good care when wrapping and moving my belongings. By 1:30pm, we hadn't arrived at the first location and I started to panic as I had to be at my lawyer's office at 4pm. We were finished at the first location by 2:30. At the storage facility, I was worried that all my stuff might not fit in the 9x10 unit, but Ryan was amazing at efficiently organizing my things so that there was even a little room to spare! I was especially grateful that they took away some large pieces of furniture that I no longer wanted. I made it to my lawyer's office by 3:45. When we find our forever home, we will definitely be using Genie Senior Services again. I give these guys five stars!

  My experience wasn't great. I was sold on a premium clearout service with thoughtful sorting and downsizing support. What I got a whirlwind packing job that was swift and thoughtless. The months since I've been sorting through contents in the storage locker has revealed how careless this packing was: unlabeled and mislabeled boxes; shoes separated in different boxes; books thrown in boxes in heaps; suits and clothing crumpled in boxes; a broken wheelchair armrest, leftover medical supplies packed even though they were told the senior transitioned to long-term care... Yes, they were fast, but I have no sense of added value. For the premium price charged ($2,600 for one day/640 sf), I expected a much more organized and careful senior transition service rather than what felt like standard moving and disposal.
