I contacted this firm regarding estate and Henson Trust matters following my father’s passing. I attended a meeting last week with Fraser Lypkie and was considering retaining the firm. Before signing a retainer agreement, I asked a couple of very reasonable questions regarding the anticipated costs, scope of work, and proposed plan moving forward. Rather than receiving answers to those questions, I subsequently received an email advising that the firm would not be proceeding with representation and recommending that I seek other legal counsel. As a potential client, I believe it is reasonable to ask questions and fully understand the scope and cost of legal services before signing a retainer. The experience left me disappointed, as I was looking for transparency and a clear plan of action before making a financial commitment. My advice to anyone considering this firm is to ask all of your questions up front and ensure you fully understand the scope of work, anticipated costs, and proposed strategy before signing anything or paying a retainer. In my case, asking those questions ultimately helped me determine that this firm was not the right fit for me. While others may have had different experiences, this was my experience, and ultimately I am glad I asked questions before proceeding.
