Very kind to my wife who has Alzheimer's and is totally dependent on the staff for everything. I would give 6 Stars if I could

Do not be misled by the outward appearance of this facility. If your loved one is fully dependent, especially if they have dementia or display any aggressive behaviors, I strongly caution you against leaving them here without making regular visits. In my experience, the staff were not adequately trained to handle aggression or prepared for medical emergencies. This created serious risk for my loved one’s health and safety, as well as for other residents I personally observed during my visits. When incidents occurred, injuries were often ignored or undocumented, leaving residents in pain and families uninformed. Reporting such incidents to the Ministry did not resolve our concerns. While there are a few PSWs and nurses who genuinely care and work hard, their concerns are frequently dismissed or silenced by their colleagues, administration and other staff in charge. The result is an environment where residents with medical needs are neglected rather than cared for. At times, my loved one’s basic needs, such as feeding and hygiene, were ignored. Families must take extra steps to protect their loved ones here. For example, I recommend obtaining direct access to your loved one’s LifeLab's results, as staff did not follow up on tests requested by the doctor or family, leaving medical issues unaddressed or delayed. Although there are some dedicated staff members, the overall culture of this facility puts vulnerable residents at risk. There are staff members who treat residents with utmost disrespect and indignity. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this facility for anyone who is dependent on others for their daily care. I highly recommend placing a camera in your loved one’s room. It is legal to do so and all you have to do is sign a form provided by the administration. The administration will try to discourage you, however, you have every right to place a camera with audio in their room. Use a camera that you can view live any time throughout the day. Please know that no services can be revoked because of placing a camera as I was warned about by a Manager in the beginning when inquiring about this. After the first injury, there was no accountability or treatment offered and that is when I placed the camera in the room with no objection. Please, please check your loved ones regularly for any signs of injuries, cuts (legs, arms, etc) or soars in their backs, if bedridden, and demand answers. Make sure the injuries are documented and logged by staff. I have witnessed so many neglected injuries caused by carelessness of staff, nurses as well as doctors in not treating the injuries. They have a culture of covering up and protecting this institution from being legally perused. You have every right to seek medical advice outside of this home and physicians who are not affiliated with this home. Please visit your parents regularly and make sure that your visits are unexpected in terms of days of the week or the time you visit. You might be surprised how you might find your loved one when your visit is least expected.
