Our mom stayed on the Memory Care floor at Aster Gardens in Sherwood Park, and we are so grateful for the care she received. The staff were kind, compassionate, and professional, and they always kept our family informed. She was well cared for, well nourished, and enjoyed the activities that kept her engaged Knowing she was surrounded by people who genuinely cared brought our family comfort and peace of mind. Thank you to the entire Memory Care team for treating our mom with such dignity, respect, and kindness. We will always appreciate everything you did for her and for our family.

I would not recommend aster gardens for the memory care unit, especially if your loved one has diabetes. They are not trained to keep blood sugars in check. They don’t take into account the dietary restrictions of the residents. My Mother in Law has diabetes and her blood sugars are through the roof. As a reference when she was in the hospital for an unrelated issue they kept her blood sugars with in the necessary levels. When she was living with us in the transition period her blood sugar was in check because we kept her on a low sugar diet. As soon as she is at Aster gardens her blood sugar is through the roof. And they don’t really care either. The doctor they have working for them will only prescribe huge amount of insulin, but no dietary restrictions. It’s as if it would be too much work for them to restrict her diet. Not good enough for $8500/ month.

I would not recommend Aster Gardens for people with Alzheimer’s or Dementia. The staff is not qualified and there are not enough staff in the memory care unit. The amount of care they receive does not justify the exorbitant price tag. From what I have seen of the assisted living wards, they seem fantastic, but I would look elsewhere if you are in need of a memory care unit.
