  We moved in a family member with little notice due to unforseen circumstances. From our first visit to the move-in process and beyond, the staff and residents at the Barton have been extrememly kind, welcoming and helpful. Especially Theresa, who has accomodated every request with good grace. The resident wrist watch (help button) might have caused some eye rolls when it first went on, but within 8 months it was used for it's very purpose and we are grateful for it. The building itself has everything they need and a lot more. Our family member has settled into the routine with no complaints and has made some wonderful social connections. Some friends and neighbours have commented that our family member is doing the best they've seen in years. It is the perfect environment for them to maintain independence and privacy along with assistance as they develop the need. We no longer have to worry about them being alone, the staff and residents have provided kindess, friendship and support every day, which was exactly what our family member needed. I'm happy for them that they've found this welcoming community to be a part of.

  On July 1, BARTON Retirement Home on Leslie Street in Newmarket hosted a wonderful Canada Day barbecue for residents, along with their families and friends. The event was a memorable celebration that brought everyone together for an afternoon of excellent food, warm fellowship, and community spirit. From the outset, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that every guest felt welcome and able to enjoy the festivities. Their dedication, professionalism, and attention to detail were evident throughout the day, and their tireless efforts helped create a comfortable and cheerful atmosphere for all in attendance. The meal was outstanding and offered something for everyone. Guests enjoyed hamburgers, large hot dogs, chicken, and bacon, all freshly prepared and served with a smile. Dessert featured a beautiful Canada Day cake and refreshing watermelon, while bags of Doritos and a variety of soft drinks added to the enjoyment of the celebration. Most importantly, the barbecue provided a meaningful opportunity for residents to spend quality time with their loved ones. My mother attended with me, my two brothers, and their spouses, and we all had a wonderful time. We were grateful for the chance to celebrate together in such a warm and welcoming setting. On behalf of our family, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the staff at BARTON Retirement Home. Your kindness, commitment, and hard work made this event a memorable success. The care and effort you devoted to organizing such a special day did not go unnoticed and is deeply appreciated by residents and their families alike. We would also like to recognize Michelle Fagan, the General Manager of Barton Retirement Home, for taking part in the fundraiser for CHARTWELL WISH OF A LIFETIME. The bucket of ice event was a fun and memorable addition to the day, and it helped raise $550 in support of this worthy cause. Thank you for making Canada Day such a joyful and memorable occasion. Job well done.

  We moved my dad to Chartwell Barton last month. He is 101 years old and currently their oldest resident. Every staff member knows him by name and they all know me by name as well! The Barton definitely feels like home. The staff are all compassionate and caring. Michelle Fagan, General Manager was our tour guide. We were very impressed with everything she showed us. We definitely got a wonderful warm feeling about Barton! Theresa, Lifestyles & Program Manager always has a smile on her face and answers my questions and concerns. Phillip Laundry, Wellness Manager has gone beyond expectations for my dad’s health and wellbeing! Heather, Administrative Manager is always so welcoming when we come to visit and gets my questions answered very quickly! Mario, Maintenance Manager can hang a picture in less than a minute and is always ready to help! Thank you all so much for making Chartwell Barton such a wonderful place for my dad to live and thrive! I would definitely recommend Chartwell Barton to all my friends and family!
