  My parents were at Southwind for 6 years. Initially my Father had dementia. With the help of staff, my Mother was able to take care of him until his condition worsened and he passed away at the nursing home. Then my Mother also developed dementia. She was now alone. The staff worked very hard to help her during these deteriorating 2 years, and management were very understanding and empathetic. She received smiles and sincere "hello, How are you" from all the staff, including the kitchen, front desk, cleaners and medication personnel and many, many fellow residents-who were really her friends. She was not alone. As her dementia got worse, we were obliged to hire personal attendants so as to enable Mom to stay a few months longer. By the time Mom went to the nursing home, she was ready for the change. I want to thank all the staff and friends at Southwind for helping both of my parents stay longer, comfortably and with dignity in such a lovely place.

  We have had a fabulous experience with my Mother in Law at Southwind Retirement Residence this past year. The facility is always so clean and smells lovely. The staff always goes the extra mile to make sure all is well with the residents. There are many areas to have quiet time or enjoy card games etc with family who visits. The food is great and the residents share a table with the same people for conversation and consistency. We would highly recommend Southwinds

  Southwind's kind, caring, and empathetic staff know the needs of every resident. Visitors and residents are greeted in the hallways and at meals on a first name basis and with a smile. Meals are served promptly with knowledge of each resident's needs. There is a nice variety of dishes served that are healthy and cover all food categories. There are always eyes on the residents to ensure no one is left out of an activity or has forgotten anything, and the staff always maintain a safe and positive environment. Communication with the family is also excellent. Individual medications are administered promptly and a time that is best for the resident. Rooms are cleaned very well and on a regular basis. The building itself is well-maintained with new furnishings, areas repainted, and items promptly repaired/replaced when necessary. Questions are quickly answered. Our family is very pleased with Chartwell Southwind.
