After many years of dealing with the ups and downs of my husband's Alzheimer's, I needed time to breathe. My husband attends the amazing day program at Markham Memory & Company for a few hours, three times a week. At first, this was enough to carve out some time for myself but not so much anymore. It was decided to try four nights of respite care. Best decision I made not just for me, but for my husband as well. I so appreciated photos and updates which gave me comfort knowing that he was doing so well. All of the staff are kind, and caring, and are incredibly patient. I would list them all by name but don't want to leave anyone out. They are all appreciated and I won't hesitate to use respite care again when I need a reset.

A warm inviting place for my father to stay. Kindness and attention prevail. The recreation team run. Y Cara is absolutely the best! Food and nursing care along with the PSW are awesome! Thank you for always taking great care of my dad.

Such a relief to find respite care on short notice. Mom was at the Markham Club for 3 days last summer and we were very happy with the tender loving care she received from ALL the staff members. So when we felt we needed a longer break this year, we booked her for a month. Since her return back to our home, we have noticed that she is quite a bit more engaged with daily activities. She has even gotten dressed on her own a few times, something that seemed she was no longer able to do. She's quite curious about her 'new' surroundings even though she's been here with us for 4 years! She walks around a lot more than she had been for the past year I had a hard time getting her to leave the yoga activity when I came to bring her home. She doesn't remember her stay at Memory & Company but it does seem it was a good month for her (and us).
