Most Sudbury home care share pricing on request, since the final number depends on suite size and the level of care needed. Call any community below for a current quote.
Most home care in Ontario are private-pay, funded from a blend of pensions, retirement savings, and home equity. Government pensions form the floor: the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, and the income-tested Guaranteed Income Supplement for lower-income seniors. Provincial benefits and Veterans Affairs Canada may offset part of the cost. For a full breakdown, read our guide on when is it time to consider home care?.
In Ontario, home and community care arranged through Ontario Health atHome is publicly funded and income-tested, meaning many families pay little or nothing for an assessed level of service. Private home care agencies listed here charge per hour at private-pay rates that vary by the type and intensity of care.

Sudbury families often start this conversation at a moment of crisis, and our strongest advice is to slow down just enough to separate two questions: what level of care does your parent actually need right now, and what do they want their daily life to look like? Home care keeps them in the home they know, whether that's a house in the South End, a condo near downtown, or a place out in the Flour Mill neighbourhood. Staying put matters deeply to a lot of older Sudburians, and for many it's the right call. But home care works best when the home itself is set up for it and when someone in the family can stay engaged between visits.
Ontario Health atHome is your first call for publicly funded home care in Sudbury. A care coordinator will assess your parent's needs and arrange services like personal support, nursing, and therapy. Wait times for funded visits can stretch, especially for more intensive care, so the sooner you contact them the better. Many families layer in private home care agencies to fill gaps in the schedule or to get started faster. The providers listed on this page are a mix of both, so check each listing carefully and ask every agency how quickly they can begin.
Sudbury's geography matters more than people expect. Health Sciences North on Paris Street is the city's major hospital and a hub for specialist care, so proximity to it can be a real practical advantage if your parent has complex medical needs and frequent appointments. Transit access in denser parts of the city, such as the New Sudbury area or along main corridors, can give a care worker more flexibility in reaching your parent. More rural addresses on the city's edges may have a smaller pool of available workers, so ask agencies directly about coverage for your specific address.
Our honest take: if your parent needs help with a few daily tasks and values independence, home care is worth pursuing seriously before considering a move. If their needs are escalating quickly or isolation is a real concern, it may be worth visiting a Retirement Home or looking at Assisted Living options in Sudbury at the same time, so you're not making a rushed decision in six months. Having a plan B is not giving up on Plan A.
