That's the honest trade-off: you get flexibility and quicker move-in than publicly funded long-term care, but you're paying market rates. Home and community care, if you'd rather keep your parent in their own home for now, is arranged through Ontario Health atHome, and it's worth a call before you commit to a move.
Location matters more here than in a bigger city because Thunder Bay is spread out.
