Staff are very nice and helpful. The bedrooms are good too. Food is also very nice

My Mom was here for almost 12 years (R.I.P). I visited her almost weekly during this time and was able to take her home to us when we wanted. The Staff were able to handle her care (incl. dementia) far better than we could. The Staff were kind and patient to my Mom and she liked them (just not the food admittedly, so I’d bring her food when I’d visit). The staff were also friendly to me. My Mom’s favourite thing to do there was play Bingo and win prizes haha. They had music events, games, arts & crafts, etc to help occupy her time and mind and also outdoor excursions once in awhile. The shared facilities and my Moms room were kept relatively clean. During Covid they took steps to prevent outbreaks with rapid tests to staff and visitors, masks and many times I had to wear overalls (not sure what they are actually called). The administration was receptive to our calls and concerns if any were brought up. I cannot thank the Wenleigh enough for caring for my Mom to their best ability and I appreciate the staff esp the Streetsville section for her care while she was there.

This home has completely mismanaged my dads needs and care as a person with dementia with behavioural issues when triggered. The administrator accused my dad of being racist, lied to him and failed to follow the recommendations set in place by Halton Geriatric Mental Health Team, psychogeriatric resource consultant and his case manager, on how to manage him… they continue to disregard the recommendations and instead heighten his frustrations, then call the police to have him formed. They have had him formed twice instead of using knowledge, skills and abilities with persons with dementia. My dad hit the administrators head (very unfortunate) but not out of the ordinary with this disease. The home once again formed my dad, and then this incompetent administrator decided she would try to have a person with DEMENTIA and psychosis charged for assault. 🤯 UNBELIEVABLE!! If you work in this field you know these are risks of the job, as unfortunate as it may be.
