My sister Lynn and I carry both sorrow and deep gratitude as we reflect on the care our mother, Margaret Hunter, received at Erin Mills Lodge Long Term Care during the final chapter of her life. Watching someone you love move through the last stages of dementia is a quiet, slow heartbreak. There are moments of confusion, fading memories, and the constant worry that settles deeply in a family’s heart. Through it all, the staff at Erin Mills Lodge Long Term Care surrounded our mother with patience, dignity, and gentle care that never went unnoticed. When she developed pneumonia, the days became especially difficult for us. It was frightening and overwhelming. Yet knowing she was being cared for around the clock brought comfort during moments when we felt powerless. The dedication of the staff helped carry some of the burden families feel when they can no longer protect the people who once protected them. There is one person whose kindness shone especially brightly in those final days: Lorena. She cared for our mother with a tenderness that felt natural and sincere, never rushed and never routine. She treated her not simply as a patient, but as a person worthy of warmth, dignity, and companionship. Our mother was never one for long conversations, yet even in her quieter moments she expressed appreciation for Lorena. We could see the comfort in her face when Lorena entered the room. The patience, gentleness, and genuine care she showed day after day reassured us that our mother was truly in good hands. Lorena seemed to carry an endless well of kindness. In a time filled with uncertainty and heartbreak, her presence brought calm and humanity into the room. Watching the way she cared for our mother gave our family a sense of peace during an otherwise painful chapter. To Lorena, and to the many wonderful staff members we had the privilege of meeting at Erin Mills Lodge Long Term Care, please know that your care mattered deeply. In the final days of a life, small acts of compassion become something immeasurably meaningful. You gave our mother dignity, comfort, and kindness when she needed it most. Those gifts will remain with our family always. For that, we offer our deepest and most heartfelt thanks. 🙏❤️🩹

My father got transferred in September by the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital and we can’t be more thankful for the support. We would like to give a heartfelt to thank the ESN team and specially Kaitlyn Wynnyk for all they have done for my father. The hard work, dedication and compassion show everywhere. They all make a huge difference in our lives and our community. Knowing that they are all there and care so much takes an enormous worry off our minds. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the important work they do. We feel so much love around my father that is overwhelming! Thanks very much!
