Do not be fooled by the old building - this place is full of wonderful staff who make up for the elevators with buttons that don’t work and a parking lot that is not nearly big enough. My mother spent 8 months in the transitional behavioural support unit (BSU) and I have nothing but good things to say about this placement. The staff were caring, patient and supported both her and our family. My mother, even when displaying ‘responsive’ behaviours, was treated with compassion by staff who were obviously experienced and seemed to work well together to also support each other. The activity staff work hard to engage all the residents in a variety of ways. They made sure to celebrate every holiday and include all the residents in many different activities. Some examples include weekly one on one painting sessions with a visiting artist, an outing to a lakefront park, a summer bbq with a summer weekly ice cream truck and weekly mass for those who want to attend. I was impressed by the regular communication from staff and the doctor who supported the unit. She had moved from a private facility where the level of care, at four times the cost, was horrifying in comparison. In her final days the staff supported our family with compassion and care.

My name is Leslie Robertshaw Room 313 I've been here since March 5 2025. Nothing much has changed. The PSWs and nurses are still 4.5 out of 5. The remaining .5 is shared by the terrible food .( Hot dogs, pizza, chicken pot pie from which the chicken escaped etc) and maintenance. The washroom door remains broken as does the soap dispenser. The heating unit is blowing warm and cold air simultaneously. The soap dispenser on the wall by my bed has been empty for over a week. I have reported these grievances repeatedly to no avail. Whipping a dead horse?

My Mom was admitted with a broken Hip in April for recovery. the staff are really nice but give the impression of being overworked and seem to be in a hurry almost all the time . The weekends were really dull for my Mother as there was no physio and there is no south Asian cultural specific event taking place, but all for 3 months is free so one cannot complain too much. The worst part of being there is the food, Mum always complained of the food being really bland and tasteless, and sometimes she refused the food because of its tastelessness. Our request is only that if the staff wants the residents to have their food to recover then proper food needs to be provided, by proper I mean flavorful and healthy both. The dessert was almost the Costco type cake/pie etc sweet which for sure was not the healthiest, they offered too much juice which is common sense is not healthy either. My mother requested warm water which surprisingly is the most precious commodity here. They provide ice cold water with meals and whenever requested but whenever asked for warm water it became a bit of a struggle to get such a simple thing. We provided water bottles to our mother to avoid ice cold water. The care, the people and the atmosphere is good and caring but the food is horrid and the sweets are unhealthy, and please make an arrangement to provide residents with warm water as a norm.
