My mom moved to Devonshire just over a year ago and it's been great. The staff are communicative, approachable and very caring. After living alone for a number of years my mom now has a valued social community and regularly participates in a variety of the great activities offered at Devonshire. I personally value the full time care she has access to and the comfort that comes from knowing she is well cared for in the times she can't be with family.

Although not our worst experience with care homes, Devonshire Seniors Community was not the best. I would consider it net neutral. It depends on the hands-on care available. And although most of their staff tried their best, I don’t think Devonshire has hired enough staff to adequately care for their charge. Our experience included oxygen tanks without oxygen or hooked up improperly. Solid food served to someone on a strictly pureed diet with significant choking concerns. That said, the food was appealing and of good quality. Mom was usually dressed when we arrived and where appropriate, out of bed. Washing was cursory but done. Repositioning her to relieve pressure was also of concern. I can’t comment on the social aspects of Devonshire as my mother was palliative and immobile. There was access to occupational therapists and doctors, but as expected, it was stretched. I spent considerable time with my mother – daily for weeks at a time and from what I can see, there was effort to try and make Devonshire an inviting atmosphere with simulating things to do.
