After a bad motorcycle accident I lost my ability to stand or walk. Having COPD complicated matters even more. My ex wife felt that placement in a LTC facility would relieve her of any responsibility of my care and maintenance. Essentially, I was dumped and forgotten even though i had full cognitive function. Having previously worked in health care for 15 years, being placed in Holsome was a real eye opener. Staff shortages were an everyday occurrence. The use of agency staff on weekends was a gong show. Medical attention was limited to a weekly visit by one doctor. Dietary needs, quality food preparation and delivery were inadequate and left much to be desired. I have since left Holsome and am living in the home of a loving and caring woman. A far cry from the delivery at Holsome. Now I am enjoying warm meals, regular doctors appointments and full access to labs for ongoing tests have made a dramatic change to my health and well being. I truly believe Holsome should undergo a full operational and standards audit by AHS. Otherwise nothing will change until management is taken to task for these ongoing issues.

This place has been amazing from the beginning. From the staff to the facility to the food to all the recreational activities to the physio to the accommodations to the cleanliness and to the care, this place has been amazing! There is 24 hour security and visitors are allowed 24-7. They know the residents by name and make the effort to make them feel at home by adding a personal touch to their rooms. Each resident has their own private room with full bathroom. There is ample space to bring their own furniture, hang up pictures, bring a TV, and really personalize their space. There is also enough storage space. The facility really pays attention to each residents needs. The salon, which is open 1-2 times a week, also has good services and there is a foot care nurse that comes in every 4 to 6 weeks, though her services are questionable. Each floor has a balcony with outdoor furniture. Every occasion is celebrated. There is such an amazing variety of recreational activities for everyone, some include prizes. All schedules are followed closely. We are so happy with Holsome Place for our mom and all that it offers.
