  If I can give 0 stars for this place I would. Nurses the backbone of this longterm care everyday putting in their care and hardwork to give the best of care for the people that are living there , guess what they get for nurses week? A 5 dollar tim Hortons gift card, a small lays chips bag and a plastic Kirkland water bottle. Wow such a insult towards the nurses for nurses week. Im sorry for all thw nurses working there including my husband u guys deserve much better since ure truly the back bone of our health community.

  I cannot recommend this facility. It "looks" great because it's new but that means nothing about the level of care. My mom was there for 4 yrs and sustained several injuries: dislocated shoulder, 2nd degree burn from their tea, a significant bump on the top of her head that caused bruising on 2/3's of the top of her scalp, a toenail almost fully torn off during care and never reported or noticed. Just recently it was discovered she had 2 broken fingers. The bones were actually broken into many fragments and pieces were breaking through her skin. She was fully wheelchair bound. All injuries were reported to the ministry among other incidents that occurred. There is no accountability within the home. LG will say there is. They do an "investigation" but it will turns up nothing every time because all the staff say they did not see anything happen. So, essentially loved ones are not safe. Then to add further to this story, my mom passed away very recently. When we cleared out her room, we were assured several times that her belongings were safe to leave in the room for another family member to pick up. When the family member went to gather the 2 boxes, it was discovered that LG threw out her precious personal items into the garbage. There are two shining compliments I can give. The recreation team and programming is top notch. Also, the kitchen staff and dietician were dedicated and made every effort for my mom who had many dietary restrictions.

  Lakeridge Gardens is a very nice LTC facility for my mother, who is nonambulatory. Good food. Caring staff. Very clean. Well lit. In general, it's hard for Mom to be in LTC. Like in any of these facilities, some of the other residents are pretty loud (dementia) and/or unpleasant. But Lakeridge Gardens deals with everyone with respect and kindness. It's just hard to have one's choices taken away, even at an advanced age.
