  After making the difficult decision to care for my sister, we reviewed several options and selected the memory care program at McCowan Retirement Residence. To date, we have not been disappointed with the care provided. The program has afforded her an opportunity to participate in dance, arts and crafts, reading, entertainment and gardening. The program has actually unearthed some hidden artistic talents and some of her creations are prominently displayed in her suite. The staff are professional and make the residents feel valued at a time they need it most. Thanks for your support!

  McCowan Retirement Residence has been a gift to our family. As hard as it was for my mother to leave her home and move into assisted living just one year ago, it has made all of our lives better. She is well cared for by the amazing staff. They go above and beyond to make my mom feel safe and welcome. It is a happy environment with daily activities and entertainment for their residents and families. So thankful we found McCowan Retirement Residence. Highly recommended.

  It is my pleasure, as the Chair of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons (CARP), Scarborough Chapter, to have had several interactions with the McCowan Retirement Residence and I have only positive things to say about the facility, staff and atmosphere. Our first major interaction was a Christmas Buffet lunch where 25 of our CARP members attended and toured the facility. The Residence has undergone extensive renovations and feels modern, clean and well maintained with a very caring culture; it is very reasonably priced and has an abundance of daily activities for the residents. The staff appeared to be extremely friendly, knowledgeable, caring and welcoming. Our team was very impressed from the moment we walked through the front doors where you are immediately greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our most recent interaction was with our CARP Choir, made up of 40 seniors, where the McCowan team led by Mary McIntyre Raft, hosted us for eight weeks of rehearsals. Their enthusiasm was amazing, making us feel welcome with every interaction. Our observations over the eight weeks confirmed the dedication of the staff with the residents and we saw many examples of a caring, attentive team genuinely committed to the well-being of the residents. In fact, several residents joined our rehearsals and sang with the Choir!. Mary has graciously invited us to perform at the Home this month, a real treat for our Choir. In summary, McCowan clearly values its residents, its staff is amazing and the facility is well maintained and modern. We would not hesitate to recommend the Home to family and friends.
