I called to inquiry about the program and the receptionist was very rude. She became very argumentative and did not want to share any info. She then said it was policy to not share the program coordinator name. She did not want to transfer the call and wanted to hang up. I told her she was being rude and she was very dismissive. This is unacceptable behavior.

Under no circumstance should anybody let any relative or friend move in here. I visited my friend who was a patient at 0rchard Villa - for many years - and this place is beyond appalling. There is no continuity of staff, which is difficult for both patients and visitors. Those that work there are probably doing the best they can, given their own obvious limitations- but too many of the staff have clearly had zero proffessional training in how to care for people descending into dementia. The patients are left sitting in wheelchairs; just staring at the wall in the hallways. 0ften in soiled diapers. The building is old and basic upkeep/renovations are never done. In the 3 years I visited there the visitors' bathroom door-lock never got fixed. Paint is peeling off the walls. There is mold in the patient's bathrooms. There are no programs to engage the patients even marginally . When my friend was moved in there, she had been well enough to be able to dial the phone and speak to me. She could watch her own TV .However, at 0rchard Villa they waited several months before bothering to hook a phone up, despite being urged to do so. the TV was never hooked up. By time the phone was FINALLY in place she had lost the ability to use it- and all connection to the outside world had ended for her .When I suggested a memory ( music ) program for my friend, I was met with blank stares- although this is readily available free of charge to long term care homes . In the bedrooms there are no chairs where you can sit and visit. Finding a lobby to visit is also next to impossible. They have a courtyard which we used, but this is rather difficult in the winter months, plus most of the lawn chairs are old and rusty, if not broken. the food is grey and unappetizing. Basic care in dressing people is not adhered to, my friend often had her bare feet in running shoes- since nobody cared enough to put on her socks. She who had always taken wonderful care of her appearance now barely had her hair washed- whenever I visited it was mostly stringy, greasy and often matted. Her nails were long. I could go on and on.... but perhaps this gets the point across? Please , NEVER send anybody to this horrific place! If I could give a minus 10 score I would !

I am deeply grateful to the entire team at this long-term care facility for the exceptional care they provided to my mom during her time here. Sadly, my mom has since passed away, but knowing that she was cared for with such kindness, dignity, and compassion brings our family great comfort. A very special thank you to Priya, the Food Service Manager, who truly went above and beyond. Priya was always attentive to my mom’s needs, made sure her requests were fulfilled, and took the time to talk with her whenever she needed companionship. My mom was genuinely happy to be here, and that was largely because of the warmth, respect, and personal care Priya showed her every day. Thank you, Priya, for everything you do and for treating my mom not just as a resident, but as family. We will always be thankful. And thank you to the entire staff for creating such a caring and supportive environment during her final days.
