My mom lives here in absolute filth! Her rent includes housekeeping, what housekeeping? My mom's room is very dirty, from 1/4 inch thick dust, baseboards are disgusting 🫣 floors don't look like they have been washed in months! Don't even get me started about the bathroom and her piled up laundry! The housekeeping doesn't seem to do their job and nobody there cares! UPDATE: Gabriel took my complaint serious and had my mom's room cleaned. Thank you so much Gabriel, my mom and I appreciate it! Another UPDATE. Seems this place hires incompetent staff who don't bother to make sure what medication they are giving seniors is the correct medication. I picked up my mom for a couple days at my house, I get to the facility, they don't have enough medication for my mom and NO insulin. I was told both would be available first thing in the morning. I get there in the am and they still don't have the my mom's insulin so they give me the wrong insulin. I didn't know that, figured they changed up her insulin, I'm not a nurse or a doctor!! I gave my mom the usual units of insulin, within 15 minutes my mom's eyes are rolling in the back of her head and she starts trembling like she's in the Arctic with no jacket, and tells me she doesn't feel right. I ended up calling an ambulance where the Paramedics tell me this could have been fatal and good thing I was paying attention and keeping an eye on my mom! I want my mom out of this place!!! ANOTHER UPDATE: This place just can't seem to get things right! Again, picked up my mom to bring her home for the evening, morning comes, I take out the insulin pen, there is only 8 units in the pen. Not enough insulin by far! Not only that, when I went to pick up enough insulin to give my mom the proper dosage, I was advised the dosage had been adjusted and nobody told me?! No due diligence conducted by these staff! The admin doesn't answer my calls when I call their either! Wouldn't recommend this place ANOTHER UPDATE: Nov 25: First update: Got a call from the staff who left two voicemail messages, could barely understand this man, asking if my mom was with me they couldn't find her! As I'm panicking, running to my car to go to Sprucewood, a second call comes in from the same staff, false alarm! REALLY!? Second update: Got another call from sprucewood staff, again, could barely understand this person, barely speaks English, what I did understand was my mom's glasses are broken! What do they want me to do? Also, the one arm to the glasses was missing, staff said they couldn't find it. Again, had to go look for the arm myself, which I found in her night stand. They must have looked really hard! I re-taped the arm back on. ANOTHER UNFORTUNATE UPDATE: I asked linen staff about my mom's duvet that she loves, as it had not been on her bed for quite some time. I asked about it, immediately got excuses as to why she couldn't look into my inquiry. I was immediately told "I'm just helping out today, instead I'd offering to look into it. She left my mom's room, was walking down the hallway, there was NO YELLING whatsoever, when I made a comment about the laziness of "some" of the workers here in the privacy of my mom's room! I was immediately bombarded by the supervisor Jane and her Manager Mellisa, accused and yelled at about what happened in the cafeteria in front of all the redidents and my mom! How unprofessional! All because I spoke up and stated the obvious! I wouldn't recommend this place!

I moved into Sprucewood about 4 months ago. I was hesitant at first, once I learned my way around, I began to like Sprucewood. I think the Home Care Aids work very hard, they are responsible for many tasks. I'm pleased with thier friendliness and always being so helpful. There are negatives of living here, the food isn't all that great, but I think it's improving because the residents are starting to ask for better things on the menu. The activities are excellent, there's a variety of things to do. The LPN'S are competent and give medication with caution. The manager of the building is always willing to talk to anyone about what's happening at Sprucewood.

My dad lived at Sprucewood Place for twelve years. Prior to that, he lived in his own apartment, and we always worried about his well being. Moving to Sprucewood gave him a better quality of life and gave our family peace of mind. The entire staff; doctors, nurses, admin, PSW’s, kitchen and volunteers were fantastic. Any concerns we expressed were quickly addressed. My dad was treated with respect, he was encouraged to participate in activities, he was encouraged to be more independent. I truly believe that the staff genuinely cared about the well being of all residents. We are grateful for the care my dad received. Jane, Melissa, Nancy, Carrie, Laura, Brandy and Sabina, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
