  I go there for the Rosebud orchestra rehearsal every Wednesday and it is a great place for rehearsing.

  After an unexpected illness during COVID, I was hospitalized for nine weeks, went to Alternative Care (also amazing nurses and PSW’s), then I was fortunate enough to be sent to Christian Holland Homes. When at the hospital, it was the luck of the draw how my day would go, depending on the nurse I was assigned.Some were excellent, some totally disinterested in their patients. I know they are busy but so was Alternative Care and so are the staff at Christian Homes… and yet HCH’s treated all their patients depending on their individual needs. I can’t say enough about the doctor I was assigned, the nurses (1 nurse was assigned to sometimes 30 patients on a shift) , the PSW’s, administration, maintenance… every one. Although I am a picky I also felt the food was good … and if they knew it was something you liked, the Cafeteria cook would set aside extra portions…. If you felt too sick to go to the cafeteria, they willingly brought meals to your room. After 11 months I went home leaving behind so many friends like my Gurleen and Harman and so many more. LTC gets many negative reviews but I can only say, yes it was expensive in a private room (rate set by MOH) but let me say thank you from the bottom of my heart…you cared… you put your heart and soul into your job….you made a difference.

  My mother lived at Faith Manor (one of the long term term care homes on the site, Grace Manor is the other) for 4 years 2018-2022, my father for 5 weeks July-August 2021. We found overall they received excellent care. The pandemic was very difficult for everyone there (as it was for all the LTC care homes in the province; my mom was fortunate that she survived unlike many seniors in many homes). We found the majority of the staff were excellent and very caring. Both of my parents experienced significant declines in their functioning when they were there - in particular my father who did not have Alzheimers but was blind, deaf and no mobility (our mom had Alzheimers.). While he was dying which took some time, the staff were very compassionate and sensitive to both him and our family. We chose to host their memorial services on site because we appreciated the level of care they provided.
