If you’re looking for a place where residents are treated as though they no longer matter, this is unfortunately the right place. I am a personal trainer for one of the residents at this home, and I found my client severely dehydrated, with darkened skin, alone in her room. The explanation I was given was: “She is independent and refused to eat, so we didn’t push her.” That response was shocking. This resident has aphasia and had been fasting the previous day for medical tests. A responsible care team should recognize those circumstances and find alternative ways to ensure a vulnerable senior receives proper hydration and nutrition. Instead, what I witnessed showed a serious lack of attention, compassion, and accountability. The nurses and caregivers I encountered appeared disengaged and lacking the sensitivity and responsibility required to care for seniors. The facility may look beautiful and luxurious on the surface, but behind that appearance, it feels highly disorganized and lacking in proper care.

I found the concierges staff to be very helpful. Always willing to go out of their way to make sure you receive the proper information and guidance you need. Thank you Ela for having such a warm and helpful heart. You are awesome ❤️

A loved one lived here at Amica for 6 months. He loved his time here, and was treated very respectfully by all the staff. Luisa is so warm and welcoming to new residents, and makes moving in so smooth! The food was amazing, the building is always clean and beautifully maintained, and the concierge and third floor nursing staff are very helpful. It would be five stars, except that the odd time there were incidents (like another resident's puffer found on the kitchen counter in our unit, new linens disappearing - but quickly found, and those that disappeared without a trace were replaced promptly - so mark your unit number on everything! Email works better than the phone for any issues that come up.). Also, we really connected to some great nursing and maintenance staff members, but sadly, three excellent people left Amica during the six month stay. Staff that are paid well and treated respectfully by peers and supervisors are generally happy to stay. Great employment conditions make for good team spirit and a relaxed, happy atmosphere that was somewhat, but not always, evident. I see staff parties and appreciation lunches at some other residences. When excellent people come on board, building a positive relationship and recognizing their contribution to the well-being of the residents can't be overlooked. My two cents.
