  my wife had a medical crises that required we sell the house and move to a retirement home, she chose Don Mills which was a marvellous choice , no words can tell how organized and clean and cheerful , she had a real pleasant recovery ! and that lead to her being really well. our house did not sell till now which forced us to move back:( my wife said the honey moon is over lol I thank everyone there for such a wonderful facility , thanks Stue, Ewa, Robert and Nethu and all the staff who were unbelievably pleasant and cooperative. I sadly have to leave .

  I joined my friend in a tour , was not planning to think about it for myself but changed my mind totally! beautiful new clean spacious facility , Robert was very informative. new review :) I just joined Iam looking forward to gain my life again living there no cooking no cleaning no responsibility just being pampered at the residence. one week after living here: fantastic, 3rd week have NOT seen any better staff any betterdeciplin , cleanness but I wish I can get used to the food

  PLEASE SEE UPDATE BELOW Thank you to the wonderful team at the Don Mills Residence! Iesha, Ewa and Taneshia gave my parents an outstanding welcome when they recently attended their Wellness Assessment. The professionalism, enthusiasm and sincerity of the team made my mom & dad feel supported and valued. My parents were hesitant about moving to a retirement residence, but meeting the team was a real turning point for them; now they are excited to experience all the wonderful services and amenities that their new lifestyle will offer them. My family looks forward to working with the Verve staff as my parents move closer to move in! Thank you! UPDATED AUGUST 13, 2024 My mother has now been at Verve, Don Mills retirement for a year and I felt it necessary to update my original review. The building went through the expected churn of a new facility and most of those issues have been resolved. The building is clean, well maintained and welcoming. However, there have been significant issues over the past year that have led me to leave this feedback. Promises that were made by the original management team have not been met. My parents signed up for the Optimal Health Care plan as my father required additional support. This paid service (which we have canceled) was unacceptable: scheduled visits from a doctor were not made, requested referrals never addressed, blood work done with no results provided, and PSWs that failed to attend. The meals that are advertised as “made with fresh, local ingredients, prepared from scratch” are quite simply not as promised. The meals do not look anything like the appetizing dishes showcased on the website. The food is inconsistent, and poorly prepared, to the extent that the residents have formed a food committee in the hopes of improving their meals. My parents prefer to entertain guests in an outside restaurant rather than in the dining room. Perhaps the inability to meet the expectations set at the Sales Centre is the inconsistency and churn of the Management team. The residents are now awaiting the arrival of their third General Manager, third Health and Wellness Manager, second Environmental Services Manager, and there has been a significant turnover in the Food Service department. Verve proudly advertises it’s “Best Managed Company” award but I fail to understand why then, there has been so much management turnover. It is difficult for the residents and must be challenging for the front line staff. On a positive note, the front line staff (dining room, cleaning and concierge) are absolutely outstanding. They consistently go over and above to accommodate the every request of the residents. They are cheerful, upbeat, professional and respectful. I hope they will get the support they deserve with the arrival of the new Management Team. There is a good variety of activities to keep residents engaged and active. As my father passed away last year, it is important for my mother to have the support of friends, and she has found that with the residents at Don Mills. As the adult “child” of a senior parent, I want only the best for my mother; a safe, caring environment where the high quality lifestyle that was promised, is delivered. I am an involved advocate for my mother and have personally communicated my concerns to both of the previous General Managers. I sincerely hope that I can provide a more positive review of Don Mills Verve in the near future.
