  Our mother Rosie lived in her home for 70 years, so you can appreciate a 90 year old being moved into a Retirement Residence. It was very difficult for her to accept. After moving her into Serenity Retirement Residence, Donna and Bill encouraged us to make her room her home. So we filled her room with all her favourite keepsakes and hung her family pictures on all four walls. The staff was very patient and kind towards her and it wasn’t long before she was calling them her new best friends. She really enjoyed all the activities that they offered including Bingo Card games, Crafts, Painting and Bean Bag Toss. Bingo was her favourite and she was a frequent winner of the cutest stuffies. She had quite the collection. Our mom would pick her favourite meals from a weekly menu and the cook and kitchen staff were always so accommodating and friendly always chatting it up with all the Residents at every meal. It was moving to hear our mom describe Serenity as her house, her home and that she felt safe and knew she was never alone. There is no better feeling knowing as you drive away after visiting that your loved one is in a safe place and being cared for by professional, caring people. Serenity Retirement Residence is truly a special place. We became good friends with all the staff and did feel like we were apart of their Big Family. Our mom “Their Rosie” felt their love every day and we remain truly grateful to Donna and Bill and their wonderful staff for the care of our mom.   I can highly recommend Serenity if you are looking for an assisted living home for yourself or a loved one. Right from the start the experience was excellent. Donna runs a tight ship, but is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The home itself is quite small compared to other assisted living facilities in Barrie, but this gives it a more comforting atmosphere rather than feeling like a hotel or medical facility. The room size for our grandfather was excellent and he enjoyed the close proximity to the dining room. All of the staff were attentive to our grandfather's needs but also engaged with him as a person, not just a responsibility to take care of. Most of our interactions ended up being with Jed and he was absolutely amazing. He always brought a positive spirit even during difficult moments and ensured our grandfather was safe during transfers and other tasks that required assistance. While our grandfather's stay was only a few months he always told us that he felt safe and cared for and that the staff were "A1." He enjoyed the meals and the attention he received throughout the day. The nurse on site is very attentive and knowledgeable and willing to answer all of our questions whenever we had them. Pricing for the facility is very transparent and very reasonable compared to their assisted living facilities in the area. They are the only assisted living home we found that makes pricing available on their website before even contacting the home. Thank you to the team at Serenity for their care and assistance with our grandfather in his final months.

  I just wanted to send out a great big thank you to Donna and all her staff. They did an amazing job at looking after and caring for my grandma Faye. The staff were always friendly, and welcoming. It means a lot to myself and my family knowing that when grandma was there she was looked after so well. The staff are beyond amazing. Donna we appreciate everything you all did. Thank you so much.
